Disney Plus has a late Christmas gift for you. Tim Allen will star in a sequel series to The Santa Clause.

Variety reports that the limited sequel series will feature Scott Calvin nearing his 65th birthday and figuring out that his run as Santa Clause can’t last forever. Not able to keep up with the Santa duties and wanting to give his kids a chance at a normal life, he sets out to find his replacement while preparing for a new life away from the North Pole.

According to Deadline, Allen will be both star in, and executive produce the series. Also serving as executive producer is Jack Burditt, who was the creator of Allen’s hit sitcom Last Man Standing. Other executive producers will include Kevin Hench, who worked as a writer and executive producer for Last Man Standing, and Allen’s managers Richard Baker and Rick Messina, who worked in the same role on Last Man Standing.

This will be the fourth time Allen has portrayed Scott Calvin, a.k.a. Santa Clause. He first played the character in 1994’s holiday classic The Santa Clause, in which the character accidentally causes Santa’s death and is forced to take on the role himself. Allen portrayed the role two more times in The Santa Clause 2 (2002) and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006). This will be Allen’s first time playing the character in 16 years, and it is certainly going to be interesting to see him as an older Santa ready to hang up the red coat.

Disney Plus has a trend going with rebooting some holiday classics. Just this past holiday season, they released a reboot of Home Alone entitled Home Sweet Home Alone.
