Being the murderer is a daunting task considering you have to work alone. It’s you against a gun-wielding sheriff and a bunch of innocent bystanders that’ll blow your cover if you even think about using your knife. That said, there are several tips and tricks you can take advantage of to win as the murderer in Murder Mystery 2.
Don’t Give the Game Away
As the murderer, you’ll likely feel the constant urge to immediately jump into action, but that’s a recipe for disaster. If you get too gung-ho about killing other players, it almost always ends with everyone finding out who you are. You do not want to give away the game so easily.
Ideally, you want to keep your role a secret in Murder Mystery 2 — even as the sheriff, too. Players tend to run in packs, but there’s always one or two that break away. When that happens, that’s when you go in for the kill, when they are alone and isolated.
Lead the Target
Whether you’re new or experienced, being the murderer comes with a bit of anxiety and that can lead to mistakes. You’d be surprised by how bad some high level players actually are when it comes to throwing the knife. It’s understandable, though. With all those players running around in random directions, it’s disorienting.
First off: chill out, take your time, and think back to our first tip. More importantly, you need to practice leading your targets. Don’t throw the knife directly at them, but rather in front of them. Unlike the sheriff’s gun, the knife takes longer to travel in the air, so it’s important to predict your target’s movements.
Use the Camera to Your Advantage
Seeing as you can switch between first and third person camera on Murder Mystery 2, you should almost always play in third person. It’s a massive advantage, not just for the murderer, but the other roles as well. If you back the camera up, you can easily see around corners.
In practice, that means you can wait at the corner of a turn and when a player gets close, you pull out your knife and take their life. Now again, other players have this advantage too, which means you need to be patient and wait until the last second before revealing your true nature.
Experiment With Powers
On top of using the camera to your advantage, murderers have access to powers. Some powers are obviously better than others; X-Ray, for example, is good no matter what map you’re on. With that said, you shouldn’t rely solely on one ability, but branch out and experiment based on the map you’re in.
For example, the office has a bunch of narrow halls, turns, and doorways. While the X-Ray power would work just fine there, using the Trap power is equally useful considering players will be turning corners a lot, oftentimes without looking where they’re going. Capitalize on their carelessness with a well-placed trap!
Sow Doubt and Paranoia Amongst Players
As the murderer, being covert is part of the job description (an aspect many players ignore). By no means should you be revealing your identity, and one of the best ways to keep it a secret is by way of the chat box.
If you see a pack of players, accuse one of them of being the murderer. Take it a step further and lie! Say you saw them kill a player and watch them scatter like cockroaches. Sow doubt and paranoia and you’ll surely come out victorious in Murder Mystery 2.
