Festivals are often your best shot at nabbing great games on the cheap. Steam Feudal Festival is no exception. Want to immerse yourself in the Middle Ages? Now you can get cozy with a base-builder, sweat it out in a PvP bloodbath, or flex your gray matter in the 4X fray. Looking to plant a harvest in Medieval Dynasty? Maybe lop some heads in Chivalry 2? In the land of feuding nobles and warring knights, there are 1,000 paths to victory. Only some require swords. Time to invest some skill points in literacy and ale. Here are the top 10 best deals of Steam Feudal Festival 2024, in no particular order.
Against the Storm
- $14.99 (down from $29.99)
Do you love the early stage of base-building games, when you first take a stand against the wilderness? Against the Storm offers that experience on repeat. As Viceroy, you’re tasked with leading humans, beavers, harpies, and other creatures to reclaim the wilderness one settlement at a time. As a roguelite city-builder, Against the Storm tasks you with creating and maintaining an ever-changing network of settlements. Fail, and no Steam Feudal Festival discount will save you from the Queen’s wrath.
Old World
- $9.99 (down from $39.99)
Hex grids and tech trees cast a spell that’s difficult to break. Old World is a 4X game by Soren Johnson, the lead designer of Civilization 4, and it shows. It’s a more intimate affair than Civilization, with a greater focus on the impact of family dynasties. Each of the game’s seven kingdoms has four noble families, each offering unique benefits when placed in charge. If you’re looking for a narrative-driven strategy game that’s as much about court politics as battlefield bravado, check out Old World while it’s at a deep discount.
Clanfolk
- $14.99 (down from $29.99)
It’s easy to look at Clanfolk and see RimWorld, but it’s no clone. It’s an early access colony sim set in the Scottish Highlands, and you aren’t racing to prepare a spaceship so your colonists can leave. Instead, you’ll be living off the land, developing your settlement, trading with other clans, and getting married. If you dream of warm mead halls, well-stocked pantries, and sharp iron swords, you might be the leader this Highland band needs. With a 50% discount on Clanfolk, the Steam Feudal Festival is the perfect excuse to raise your clan’s banner.
Knights of Honor
- $2.49 (down from $9.99)
Empty coffers! Castle sieges! Burning ballista! With Knights of Honor, Black Sea Studios gave us a classic medieval strategy game. If it looks like it came out in 2004, that’s because it came out in 2004. Despite that being 21 years ago (don’t make me think about it), Knights of Honor is still fun. RTS mechanics meet grand strategy here, and the intuitive UI keeps things organized, no matter how sprawling your kingdom. Developing your court and knights in real time, meanwhile, adds pressure to every encounter. No rest for feudal lords, apparently.
Mordhau
- $14.99 (down from $29.99)
Mordhau is a multiplayer medieval slasher, which is a fancy way of saying there will be Doom levels of blood, and only some of it will belong to other players. Triternion created one of the best and most brutal sword-fighting games around. Whether you’re in a 1v1 duel or a hectic 64-player siege, it’s Mordhau‘s combat that will keep you coming back. Cavalry charges, ladder fights, and siege engines keep battles new and interesting, as does the variety of weapons. Though recent patches haven’t been the most popular, Mordhau is still well worth a look at the Steam Feudal Festival.
Norland
- $19.49 (down from $29.99)
Another medieval colony sim, Norland is all about caring for your noble family. You’ll split your time between building your base and advancing emergent stories in your household. Often that means splitting a few skulls. Power and peace are both yours to claim, but peasant uprisings, ambitious priests, and even more ambitious politicians stand in your way. Learning to save your nobles from assassins and drunken embarrassment is half the fun. If a fusion of Crusader Kings and RimWorld sounds like your thing, Norland is waiting.
Medieval Dynasty
- $22.74 (down from $34.99)
Medieval Dynasty lets you get down and dirty with the construction of your own medieval community. You’ll need to chop trees, build houses, harvest crops, and hunt game. Living off the land while developing new technology and crafting ability is only half the battle, however.
You’ll also need to form relationships and invite new residents to your town. Maybe you’ll even find love and build a family, shaping a world that’s increasingly your own. Of all the games featured in the Steam Feudal Festival, Medieval Dynasty might be the most immersive. An idyllic life can be yours, assuming the bandits don’t jump you for it.
Manor Lords
- $27.99 (down from $39.99)
Manor Lords fuses base-building and community development with RTS combat. The result? A game that lets you feel like a real part of your fledgling town and its defense. Perfecting your supply chain to keep a steady stream of food, weapons, and construction materials takes time. Cozy community building is a thing, but if you’re looking for a challenge, Slavic Magic has built a strategy game deep enough to sink hundreds of hours into.
Valheim
- $9.99 (down from $19.99)
A few games are so iconic and made so big a splash that it’s easy to forget some people haven’t played them. If you’ve never picked up Valheim (let alone modded it), let the Steam Feudal Festival be your excuse. What Iron Gate AB made is one of the best survival games period, an enchanting blend of medieval combat, cozy base-building, and procedural exploration. The world is always different, but the joys of Valheim are always the same. It’s also co-op, so you don’t even have to take your journey to the Ashlands alone.
Chivalry 2
- $9.99 (down from $39.99)
Chivalry 2 has a lot in common with Mordhau, but they’re different takes on multiplayer swordplay. Here, skill and comedy play equal roles in how often your head and shoulders will part ways. Torn Banner Studios didn’t just create one of the most brutal action games, it also made one of the funniest. Trying to cross a battlefield flooded with dozens of screaming, swinging knights is hard even before people start chucking skulls at you. With 64-player battles, a subclass system, and mounted combat, Chivalry 2 is one of the strongest multiplayer games in the Steam Feudal Festival. Just keep that buckler raised.
