Throughout the years that Destiny 2 has been around, it’s accumulated a pretty impressive collection of great weapons, and I’m going to cover the best Legendary Primary weapons that you can get your hands on. Sure, there are some great Exotics, but since there aren’t as many and they’re more difficult to get, it can be pretty limiting when it comes to selecting your loadout. Now that we’re in the Into the Light update and with The Final Shape quickly approaching, it’s a great idea to be on top of your weapon selections and to have your loadout ready to go when it’s time. Let’s check out the 10 best Legendary Primary weapons in Destiny 2: Into the Light.
10. No Survivors
No Survivors is a Solar Submachine Gun that you can pick up from the Ghost of the Deep Dungeon. This weapon is a great substitute for the CALUS Mini-Tool and also serves as a decent SMG in PvE gameplay for ad-clearing other activities. Getting No Survivors is pretty easy if you head into the Ghosts of the Deep Dungeon since it has a chance to drop from any of the encounters within it, as well as from the secret chests that can be found within the Dungeon, not to mention, it’s extremely easy to farm.
9. The Messenger
The Messenger is a great Kinetic Pulse Rifle to take into PvP game modes, and you can get it from completing Trials of Osiris when it is available. The drop rate for it is relatively high, so even if you’re not winning Trials matches, you can still get your hands on it pretty quickly. When it comes to Pulse Rifles in PvP, you really can’t do much better than The Messenger, but when it comes to PvE, you’d be better off using something else.
8. Midnight Coup
The Midnight Coup Hand Cannon returned to Destiny 2 in the BRAVE Arsenal with Into the Light, and it’s a great thing that it did. Midnight Coup boasts 140 RMP, wild perk options like Moving Target, Zen Moment, and Outlaw, as well as Kinetic Tremors. Midnight Coup can be great in PvP if you get a roll with Explosive Payload or Moving Target and Zen Moment or Opening Shot, but this Hand Cannon performs best in PvE action. Firefly or Explosive Payload mixed with Frenzy or One for All make it a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.
7. Ammit AR2
The Ammit AR2 is a Solar Auto Rifle that you can pick up from the Gunsmith at the Tower. It popped up in Season 18 for the first time, but it’s been a great weapon ever since. It even gets bonus points for being craftable. The Ammit is a pretty good weapon for most things, as it’s decent in PvE and even better in PvP. This weapon can be an alternative for Rufus’s Fury if you’re not equipped to head into a Raid or just want to have an easier time obtaining your auto rifle.
6. Rufus’s Fury
Rufus’s Fury is a Strand Auto Rifle that can be obtained from the Root of Nightmares Raid. Though, given that it’s a Strand weapon, it’d be best used when paired with a whole Strand subclass build. Regardless, the perk combinations available for Rufus’s Fury are pretty impressive, and it can perform quite well in both PvE and PvP settings. For PvE, Rufus’s Fury should have Demolitionist and Hatchling, whereas in PvP, you should try for rolls with Perpetual Motion and Target Lock. Each roll really focuses on maximizing damage, which Rufus’s Fury has no lack of.
5. Night Watch
Now, there are quite a few Scout Rifles to choose from in Destiny 2, but there’s something about the Night Watch Scout Rifle that just makes it so good for both PvP and PvE. Night Watch is a great all-around weapon but not ideal for particular niche activities. It has a good pool of perks to choose from, as well as some pretty intense range. Regardless of the play style or activity, if you combine Rapid Hit and Explosive Payload, you’ll deal wild damage and be able to hold your own. You can get Night Watch by completing Gambit matches.
4. Fatebringer
Having a good Hand Cannon in your arsenal is always a great idea, and Fatebringer is a decent one to fill that spot. You can get Fatebringer by completing the Vault of Glass Raid and defeating the third encounter, Templar. Though, after you’ve gotten it once, it can drop from the hidden chests within the Raid as well. Hand Cannons like Fatebringer can be strong in PvE against Champions, as well as in PvP against other Guardians. And Fatebringer, in particular, is quite good in both situations.
3. CALUS Mini-Tool
The CALUS Mini-Tool is easily one of the most popular Solar Submachine Guns in Destiny 2, and for good reason. This craftable Legendary has some wicked god rolls, and it’s not too difficult to get your hands on if you’re patient enough. To get it, you’ll need to complete the Presage Exotic Mission. Typically, SMGs like CALUS are a bit better in PvE than in PvP, which is still the case here. It’s not the worst in PvP, but you’ll still get better results in a PvE setting. With available perks like Threat Detector, Incandescent, Unrelenting, and Grave Robber, you really can’t go wrong here.
2. Heliocentric QSc
Heliocentric is probably one of my favorite sidearms in Destiny 2. You can get Heliocentric QSc pretty easily since it drops from the world loot pool and can be found in various Legendary and Prime Engrams. However, because of this, it can be difficult to farm a decent roll for. The perks that drop on Heliocentric are pretty useful, like Demolitionist, Incandescent, Frenzy, and Heal Clip. Most of them can be used for a pretty specific build, so it’s already a great addition to your arsenal. When it comes to PvP and PvE play styles, Heliocentric is just about equal in terms of how good it is in both, so it’s great for whatever you want to do. I definitely recommend keeping this one on you.
1. Epochal Integration
Epochal Integration is a rather useful Hand Cannon that can be collected after completing the Parting the Veil quest given by Nimbus on Neomuna. This Solar 140 RPM Hand Cannon can deal some pretty decent damage, and it’s well worth the time you put into completing Parting the Veil. Given that it has Keep Away, Stats for All, Eye of the Storm, and Incandescent, you’ll be able to get some serious damage and stat boosts while using it, and it actually [airs up with Solar builds really well. For PvP, you’ll want Keep Away and Eye of the Storm, and for PvE, you’ll want to utilize the other two perks available.
Destiny 2 is now available on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles.
