Being towed is never a nice experience to go through, but it only becomes worse if you are scammed. A tow truck driver in Texas decided that it would be funny to lie to people so that they could park, and then he would tow them away. He even filmed himself doing this, not caring that he might be caught or that what he was doing was wrong. In several stories posted on his Instagram account, the driver shows exactly how he is scamming people. In one of the stories, he is filming a group of men and wrote on top of the video “They all came in said please don’t tow me I dry lied soon as they start having fun im pulling off with whatever.”
In another story, the tow truck driver films another driver who is asking him how he could make sure that he won’t get towed today. The truck driver then lied and said that the man wouldn’t get towed. “I’m just chilling,” he says as he claims that he is only there for safety reasons and not because he is planning to tow anyone. He even wrote, “This shi [sic] funny.” To him, it’s just a joke, especially since he laughs after scamming several drivers. The driver repeats the same thing again and then adds a picture of his truck while it is towing someone away. I just want to say that his laugh is annoying.
People Reacting to the Texas Tow Truck Driver
Texas residents were left enraged by the scam being carried out by the driver. One person wrote, “Scumbag and tow truck driver are synonymous.” Someone else looked up what company the man worked for so that they could file a complaint. They later wrote that the company didn’t respond to their email. Someone had another advice as they said, “Complain to the city and get them to replace the contract with that tow company.”
Aside from encouraging people to report the Texas driver, several kept insulting him because of what he was doing. “What a POS,” one person wrote. Another said, “Scum of the earth.” One Redditor was kind of extreme in their reaction as they hinted that the driver deserved to be shot. “Tow truck driver needs a little bop bop,” they wrote.
It’s not just this driver. Someone else claimed that this behavior is to be expected from all towing companies in the area. “Scumbag towtruckers in Austin? You don’t say. But seriously, I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, the law needs to come down on the predatory practices of Austin towing companies. The time is way past needed,” they said. Honestly, I’m amused that the driver is dumb enough to post this scam on his Instagram account. Be smart.
