I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there is no shortage of rude and racist people out in the world for some reason. Unfortunately, a lot of this rude and racist behavior tends to get focused on rideshare drivers who are just doing their jobs. However, while not necessarily fortunate, we are in an age where all rideshare (or at least most) drivers have cameras that records every interaction that happens while they’re working. One of these videos, depicting a racist male Karen arguing with an Uber driver, was uploaded to Reddit for everyone to see.
The video above starts off with the Uber driver in Calgary, Canada, beginning someone’s ride. He opens the trunk for them, helps him get his things inside, and starts driving off safely. However, not long after the ride starts, the passenger starts going on a racist tirade against the driver. What makes this worse is that since this is taking place inside of a car, it’s just the two of them; the driver has no idea if the passenger has some sort of weapon on him.
Before things escalate, the driver makes the right move to cut the ride short and kick the passenger out. He pulls over to the side of the road and begins to open his trunk so as to remove the passenger’s belongings. It almost seems as though the racist male Karen was surprised to find out that he was being kicked out because he tried to argue with the driver behind the car just as the video ends.
The replies quickly filled up with people criticizing the passenger’s actions and praising the driver’s.
“Yep, if your only achievement in life is being born some place, you lost.”
However, the sad truth is that this happens to many rideshare drivers worldwide. It seems as though there is just some unspoken rule for racist, rude, and terrible people to be aggressive towards these drivers.
“Yep, just “making conversation” in his dumbass mind I’m sure. Poetic ending, driver was awesome dude.”
Hopefully, the passenger was banned from being able to use the app or was at least put on some ‘No Driving’ list. At the very least, I hope he couldn’t find another ride on the night of this video.
