The Uncharted movie adaptation has once again been forced to delay production. No surprise. The film has been delayed due to the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak. Variety reports that the film was due to begin filming in Berlin, Germany in six weeks’ time. As a result of the Coronavirus crisis, pre-production has been delayed for up to six weeks.

So, it’s everyone’s hope that the film adaptation of Naughty Dog’s series will finally come together. The production has been riddled with problems for some time. Covid-19 just adds to the list. There’ve been numerous directors, (six so far), who’ve joined and subsequently, for one reason or another, abandoned the project.

These include Stranger Things’ Shawn Levy and Dan Trachtenberg, the director of the acclaimed 10 Cloverfield Lane. Ruben Fleischer, the man behind Venom, is now the latest director to be connected to the film, and fingers crossed, the man to bring the Uncharted film across the finish line.

The as-yet-unnamed Uncharted adaptation stars Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, Antonio Banderas, Tati Gabrielle, and Sophia Allen. Plus, as recently reported, the Uncharted movie was slated for a March 2021 release date. Of course, that’s beginning to appear unlikely due to Covid-19.

The Uncharted film was written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, the creative duo behind Iron Man, Transformers: The Last Knight, and Men In Black: International.

Tom Holland praised the script, hailing it as: “one of the best scripts [he’s] ever read.”. Let’s hope then this script can be translated onto the big screen, so we can finally see what the wait’s been for.

The film’s production is not the first to suffer due to the Covid-19. Fast & Furious 9, A Quiet Place II and No Time To Die have all seen their release dates pushed back due to the pandemic.
