The upcoming action shooter called Spine got a gameplay reveal trailer only a few weeks ago and with no release date in sight, Variety has revealed that it is getting both film and TV adaptations. The futuristic cyberpunk shooter is being developed by Banzai and published by Nekki, but when it comes to the adaptations, Story Kitchen’s involvement has been confirmed.
Spine is being built on UE5, and the early gameplay footage revealed in the trailers so far seems promising. The stylish combat is the focus of the game, with different movement options. Spine will have a story of its own, it will be interesting to see how the story of the game relates to that of the movie or TV show.
Spine is getting film & TV adaptations from Story Kitchen Before Even Coming Out
Story Kitchen will sound familiar to anyone who has played Dredge, the indie hit from last year, which is also getting a live-action adaptation, which was announced only last week. Now, Nekki is partnering with Story Kitchen to make multiple adaptations of Spine. The developers will be part of the adaptation process to make sure the game is translated to the big screen without losing the game’s core gameplay elements.
But the situation is different for Dredge and Spine, since the former is already an acclaimed title with a sizable following, while Spine hasn’t even come out yet and is still under heavy development. To top it off, Spine hasn’t even gotten a release window yet, let alone a release date.
This means that Story Kitchen has high hopes for the game, or perhaps the IP itself. Perhaps the game and adaptations will come out around the same timeframe, increasing interest in the game’s release. The game will eventually come out on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
