This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

One would believe that healing in V Rising is as simple as feeding on a human or any other weakened creature, but that’s not true. Since the game uses an intricate blood type system that gives you specific buffs, going into a feeding frenzy isn’t recommended. Furthermore, consuming hearts will just remove your rare blood type and give you a frail one, weakening you. Instead, there are other ways to heal in V Rising that can help you keep that rare blood while staying healthy enough to kick some human butt.

Best Ways to Heal in V Rising

While many weapons provide you with leeching effects, we’ll stick to three healing methods in V Rising. You’ll get one at the start of the game, one of your innate abilities, another that you can craft with simple items and one that you have to unlock via spell points.

Healing via Blood Mend

The easiest and cheapest way to heal in V Rising is by using Blood Mend. You can find this by going to your form menu, which you can open by holding CTRL and selecting this skill. You need to stand still while channeling this ability, and while it takes a lot of time, it is a spell that’ll take you back to full HP. After a fight, this is the best thing you can do to recover all your health.

Using Vermin Salve

During the tutorial, you’ll unlock the option to craft Vermin Salve using Rat x1, Plant Fiber x30, and Bone x10. This is an extremely cheap option to heal in V Rising, and you can get most of the materials in the starting area. Once you get your base, you can build a Tomb and a Vermin Nest to get rats and bones. Plant Fiber is easy to get; you’ll get a lot of it just by cutting down trees and bushes.

Casting Blood Rage

One early game spell that’ll constantly save your life in the game is Blood Rage. You can unlock it with one blood magic point, and we recommend prioritizing it. With an 8-second cooldown, you can cast it to recover a bit of health, increase your attack speed, and apply leech to nearby enemies. This is great, especially when fighting a large pack of foes or when facing a boss. I recommend combining this spell with the sword weapon skill that makes you spin around as you attack to leech as much health from enemies as possible.

As you progress through V Rising, you’ll discover more ways to heal yourself. However, these are the best to get you going during your first hours, and thankfully, they aren’t expensive. So, slot the necessary spells, craft as many salves as possible, and don’t let a single scratch ruin your night when hunting many of the locals on this map.
