One of the key facets of Valheim is survival and eating the right food is one way to do that, especially early on in the game. Keeping your food supply is almost entirely centered around how well you farm and how you manage your resources. As it turns out, there’s a lot of players out there who don’t know how to properly make use of the seeds they have in their inventory so we created this guide to help you learn how to plant seeds.
How to Plant Seeds
One of the fundamental tools you’ll need in order to plant just about anything in Valheim, seeds included, is a Cultivator and in order to build that, you’ll need to have a Forge, first. Once you have those out of the way, you’re set to go. You’ll find most of your seeds in random places throughout your journies through the biomes of Valheim and once you have some, it would be best to close off an area for your crops. You’ll have to go in your crop area and equip your Cultivator and then right-click to open up its menu and click “Cultivate.” This will bring up an area of effect where you can select the spot you’re tilling to plant the seeds you have and then click it once you’re satisfied to start tilling.
After the ground is tilled, you’ll want to right-click again in order to open the menu for the Cultivator and select the seeds from your inventory that you want to plant and plant them in the area you’ve already tilled. When planting more, you’ll want to note that each plot needs a certain amount of space, or else the crops might not grow at all. Once that’s done, you need to wait a few days of in-game time and you’re good to go for harvesting!
