Raise your glasses high for the original cast of Vanderpump Rules. On November 26, Bravo officially announced that they’d continue the show with a new group of SURvers. In case you need a refresher, the original group of reality stars worked with Lisa Vanderpump at her restaurant, SUR, in West Hollywood. Over the years, they’ve been involved in a number of scandals and provided watchers with much-needed entertainment.
However, things reached a point of no return after Season 10. When the world discovered Tom Sandoval‘s salacious affair with Raquel Leviss — it changed the trajectory of the group. This, of course, caused conflict that some of the stars couldn’t move past. After Season 11’s reunion, it was clear that the network was trying to figure out how to move forward, and now they’ve made their decision clear.
“What a thrill it is to build on the legacy of this series by doing it all over again,” executive producer Alex Baskin said about the show. “With profound appreciation for the original group and their iconic run, we can’t wait for the audience to see a dynamic new group of co-workers and friends make their way through life together.”
Lisa Vanderpump Is Returning to the Small Screen
Although the OG cast members of VPR aren’t returning to Bravo, watchers will still be familiar with Lisa Vanderpump. The restaurateur was announced to make a comeback for Season 12 despite rumors that they were considering letting her go.
“The last 12 years of filming have been an extraordinary run full of laughter, tears, and everything in between,” she said in a press release. “I can’t thank enough those who have shared their lives. How I love you all. In the restaurant business, one shift always gives way to another. Cheers to the next generation of ‘Vanderpump Rules.’”
Once the news of the show’s rebrand hit social media, fans couldn’t wait to voice their opinions. Certain watchers expressed their anxiety that the new show would become a revamped version of The Real Housewives of New York. “I hope they learn the mistakes of the new RHONY,” they wrote on X. “We need genuinely f*cked up, messy, h**ny 20-somethings desperate for fame rather than savvy pseudo ‘aspirational’ bravo superfans who wanna stay likable at all costs.”
Someone else seemingly agreed, saying Season 12 would “never be the same.”
“Why can’t they just get a new name? Don’t ruin the legendary show with a new cast.”
Cast Members React to the News
Vanderpump Rules cast members have reacted to the news that they were fired from their spot on the long-running show.
Lala Kent, who recently said she’s done with Ariana Madix, wrote a lengthy post on Instagram. In the caption, she called working at SUR the most “intimidating job” she’s ever had. However, she’s grateful for the experience because Vanderpump Rules “changed my life.” She continued, “We rocked this bitch until the wheels fell off.”
Ariana, who has become a Broadway star and television host, also reacted to the news. In her post, she thanks Bravo and Lisa Vanderpump for “every experience” over the last decade. “I’m feeling at peace with closing this chapter, and I’m excited for everything that is to come,” she wrote.
Although watchers will say hello to a new crew of faces, they still have Bravo’s The Valley to look forward to. That show features Jax Taylor, Brittany Cartwright, and Kristen Doute. Plus, Season 2 will have appearances from Lala and Scheana Shay.
