Once again, the debate explodes between the Travelers of Genshin Impact due to another Natlan character. This time, it is not because of the lack or excess of melanin in the characters or because of the fan service, but because of both reasons. Little by little, the fans’ discomfort increases with some of the animations and idles leaked of the new characters. Finally, everything goes downhill as the drip marketing of Varesa and Iasan appears in the social networks of Genshin Impact.
Natlan is already a very controversial nation, something like when Sumeru appeared, mainly because of their characters’ lack of variety of skin tones. Besides, the choice of outfits makes many people uncomfortable, especially for the female characters. However, in the case of Varesa, the discomfort reached higher levels because her top and skirt are shorter than those of other characters. In addition, her body type is supposedly “curvy,” which caused mixed comments, some about Varesa being too thin for this description and others criticizing her as “too fat.”
Also, in the Genshin Impact leaks about Varesa, what bothers the community the most is that she has a very different plunging attack. According to these animations, Varesa has animations resembling a wrestler, but the problem is that her plunging attack is sitting on top of the enemies. For this reason, players judge the game, the character, and the company for extreme fan service and retaliate by saying that Natlan is the worst nation ever.
On the other hand, others are disappointed because, according to other rumors, Varesa will be a 5-star character, while Iasan will be a 4-star character. Something ironic is that Iasan appears in Teyvat Chapter Storyline Preview: Travail, a trailer that shows a little bit of the whole story of the game. All the characters so far that appear in the trailer are 5-star, but Isan might not fulfill this requirement. So, by the above and this rumor, Varesa earned a lot of hate. Let’s hope this is as momentary as what happened with Kokomi before her debut.
