A shocking video has surfaced online showing a blue Kia Carnival deliberately ramming itself into a motorcyclist on Highway 26 Westbound while in transit in Beaverton, Oregon. The footage was captured by a witness’s dash-cam who was driving in the lane parallel to the road rage incident. Miraculously, the 21-year-old motorcyclist involved in the collision survived the incident and is “okay” according to a news bulletin from KPTV Fox 12.
The 17-second snippet of footage was captured during the early hours of Monday, 5 May, at around 6:16am, and sees a blue Kia Carnival driving at high speed on Highway 26 Westbound, in the lane on the left. A motorcyclist comes into frame and is driving beside the Kia in the middle lane, and is waving his left arm erratically, seemingly in frustration at the Kia vehicle.
Shockingly, however, things take a serious turn as the Kia suddenly swerves into the motorcyclist, colliding with him. This knocks the motorcyclist off the road, as the rider and motorcycle dangerously clatter onto the ground at high speed. From the footage, it appears that the Kia’s collision with the motorcyclist was a deliberate act of aggression.
The suspect who was behind the wheel of the Kia, however, has not yet been found, and is still at large. Though, Beaverton Police Department is currently investigating the incident as potential manslaughter, or a possible hit and run case, and are actively searching for the suspect.
The young motorcyclist has since been identified as Cory, though he’s chosen to keep his last name anonymous. Speaking to KPTV Fox 12 news, Cory’s sister and mother — Brittni and Patsy — issued a statement, saying, “It’s really hard to watch just because it’s so deliberate. Like, he literally could’ve died. And I don’t know who could do that. I just don’t understand who has that within them to do that.”
As the disturbing footage makes the rounds online, social media users took to the comments to air their thoughts. One Redditor penned, “That’s what we call an overreaction.” while another user added, “Iโve ridden motorcycles most of my adult life and some of my kid life. Youโre the most vulnerable thing on the road and even if youโre right you should probably let that sh*t go.”
Luckily, Cory is still alive to tell the tale, though the 21-year-old did sustain a serious concussion, but miraculously didn’t break any bones during the road rage incident.
