Although fans can expect to see Vixen in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow season 2, don’t expect her to be quite the same as before.
Vixen guest starred on Arrow in season 4’s Taken and on The CW’s animated series (available online), Megalyn Echikunwoke, who voices and played the character will not be available to return to the role. According to TV Insider, Echikunwoke will not be portraying the character due to “possible film projects.”
Luckily, Legends of Tomorrow have found a clever way around a recasting Mari McCabe. Using the show’s time travel premise, viewers will get to see an earlier iteration of the character who “may or may not share some sort of historical tie to Miss McCabe.” Legends of Tomorrow has yet to cast their new Vixen, who is described to be older in age.
The outlet has also reported that Echikunwoke will continue to voice the character for the Vixen animated series on CW Seed. They also note it’s possible she will return to guest star as Mari McCabe in any of the CW superhero shows.
Although the CW has yet to announce a premiere date for Legends of tomorrow season 2, they have revealed it will feature members of the Justice Society of America, one of DC’s earliest iterations of the Justice League.
