When Digital Extremes first introduced the Backstreet Boys parody for Warframe, On-Lyne, they also announced the fate that befell the band members. Unfortunately, they couldn’t escape the Techrot virus and were promptly turned into Infested monstrosities that will supposedly hunt players down. And although the Infested On-Lyne members, now called Technocyte Coda, were not present in Warframe 1999, they’re about to join in the follow-up.
Technocyte Coda will be introduced to Warframe‘s Techrot Encore update as the second part of the Warframe 1999 expansion, both as new characters and new gameplay features. Techrot Encore and thus, the Technocyte Coda will be joining the game on March 19, 2025.
Technocyte Coda are basically the Infested version of Kuva Liches and Tenet Sisters, but with a more distinctive twist. Likewise, they will also grant you access to Warframe‘s new endgame weapon sets, similar to Kuva and Tenet weapons. Here’s what you need to know to be ready for this troublesome boy band.
Technocyte Coda Members
Technocyte Coda members only have a chance to appear and attack you in 1999 missions or in Hollvania. Unlike Kuva Liches or Tenet Sisters, however, Technocyte Coda members are not randomly generated. There are only five of them, though whoever will be attacking you will be randomized.
So watch out for each of the Technocyte Coda members:
- DJ RoM
- Drillbit
- Harddrive
- Packet
- Zeke
Each one of them has a different appearance and is based on their once-human On-Lyne counterparts. Moreover, each Technocyte Coda member has a different ability set, strengths, and weaknesses.
How to Get a Technocyte Coda
Again, getting or hunting Technocyte Coda members is only possible through 1999 missions. But there are also additional conditions you need to ensure you’ve met for them to appear.
- Make sure you’ve finished the Warframe 1999 questline at least once.
- Make sure you have no active Kuva Lich or Tenet Sister.
- Undertake any 1999 mission, though I recommend a fast one like Exterminate or Capture.
- Pick up the unique items dropped by Techrot enemies.
- Bring the unique items to a virus-riddled PC and run the Technocyte-Coda.exe command. This process is automatic and the game will point you to the location.
- Complete the Hacking Puzzle.
- Technocyce Coda members will now be available to you.
How to Defeat a Technocyte Coda Member
Defeating a Technocyte Coda member is a different story compared to dealing with Kuva Liches or Tenet Sisters. You won’t be using Requiem Mods to kill them. Instead, you have to use Antivirus Mods to defeat the Technocyte Coda members, which very well means they’re just viruses in a computer.
Here’s how to work up on defeating a Technocyte Coda adversary.
- Keep running missions until a Technocyte Coda member appears and attacks you.
- Use your Parazon to Mercy Kill a Technocyte Coda member after defeating them.
- Run 1999 Bounty Missions and to farm Antivirus Mods. Make sure to equip them in your Parazon once you have them.
- Run other missions and confront the Technocyte Coda members, Mercy killing them with a Parazon equipped with Antivirus Mods to weaken them.
- Once weakened enough (Antivirus Threshold reaches 0%), a Technocyte Coda member will retreat to Earth Proxima.
- You’ll need a Railjack for the final confrontation. If your Railjack is not well-equipped, consider joining a Public squad to hitch a ride in someone else’s Railjack.
- Defeat your Technocyte Coda member, and choose whether to Vanquish (weapon reward) or Convert (make them a crew member).
If you choose to defeat a Technocyte Coda member, you won’t get a weapon right away. Instead, you will get a special currency that you can take to Eleanor in the Hollvania Mall to purchase the new Coda weapons which are the equivalent of Kuva or Tenet weapons.
Currently, the following are the available Coda weapons; consider them as rewards for defeating Technocyte members:
Primary | Secondary | Melee |
Hema | Catabolyst | Caustacyst |
Sporothrix | Pox | Hirudo |
Synapse | Tysis | Mire |
Pathocyst |
