Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun reportedly began dating in September 2025 after meeting at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding in Venice, Italy, earlier that year. Their relationship became more public in April 2026, when Sweeney shared a photo of the couple cuddling on Instagram. The pair have since been photographed together on several occasions, with reports suggesting that their relationship has become increasingly serious.
The couple’s increasingly serious relationship has reportedly led Sweeney to think about their future together. According to Page Six, Sweeney and Braun are considering having children, prompting the actress to seriously consider converting to Judaism.
“The couple is discussing having their own family and Scooter feels strongly on the subject,” a source told the publication. Page Six previously reported that Braun was considering proposing to Sweeney, which may also be influencing her current consideration.
Another source also told the publication that Sweeney has already met with two rabbis. “The process can take one to four years, includes rigorous study and requires a sponsoring rabbi,” the publication said. Another source discussed Braun’s efforts to pursue a marriage with Sweeney, saying, “He is trying very hard to marry her. He is following her and chartering private planes. He’s going to stay focused on her until she marries him.” Sweeney has also recently attended Rosh Hashanah services.
Sweeney does not necessarily have to convert to Judaism to marry Braun. Under traditional Jewish law, however, a Jewish wedding generally requires both partners to be Jewish, meaning she would need to convert for the marriage to be recognized under Halakha. Reform Judaism is more accepting of interfaith marriages and may allow couples to marry without conversion. Whether Sweeney ultimately converts would therefore depend on the couple’s religious preferences and the rabbi overseeing their wedding. There has been no confirmation that the actress plans to convert as reported.
