Unfortunately, racism can happen anywhere, even if you are visiting a garage. A Black Washington woman went to get a car inspection for Lyft and Uber, and she was treated terribly by an employee there. She mentions how she “felt the hate” as soon as she walked in, and you can definitely see this hate. For some reason, the employee took a car part that is used to install the back windshield wiper. She asks him nicely to return it, but he refuses and says that she failed. He believed that since she failed the inspection, he could take the car part and tell her to go replace it elsewhere. This shouldn’t have happened because this law about inspection isn’t there anymore in Washington, according to several comments. His taking the piece without any valid reason could only mean that he was being racist.
The employee still refuses to give the Washington woman’s car piece, even as she says that it is hers and that she needs it. When he finally decides to give it back, he tells her “Get out of my garage,” and then proceeds to attack her. You can see in the video how her nails are broken due to the physical attack. In addition to this, he tells her that if she gets the piece back, he is going to fail her automatically on her inspection. Things didn’t stop here because even the owner was racist too. He called to threaten the woman and told her, “You could post on TikTok all you want bitch. You’re going down.” Thankfully, there was an officer next to her during the call, so he continued the conversation. According to the owner, his technician is in the hospital because a man related to the customer came and attacked him. I mean, he attacked her first, so it is kind of self-defense.
What Happens Next?
The recorded call then continues, and the officer makes it clear that he would file a report first and that he won’t arrest the customer based on what the garage owner is saying. As the situation is still being investigated, the Washington woman posted an update on what has happened so far. According to her, she went to get another inspection and she passed it. If she passed the inspection, then the racist garage employee was mistreating her on purpose. While she can do Uber again, the woman mentioned how she is “Physically and mentally drained.” Hopefully, police will actually hold those who attacked and threatened her accountable. If the garage owner and his technician didn’t do anything wrong, why do they keep deleting negative reviews?
People Reacting to the Attack on The Washington Woman
People were absolutely livid about what happened to the Washington woman. So it was reasonable that everyone would be asking her to take legal action. “So you failed the car inspection, he felt the need to take your back windshield wiper, and he felt the need to put his hands on you? Lawyer up! That garage will be yours soon!” one woman wrote. Another woman also said, “Pls tell me you pressed charges.” This is exactly what the customer did. Someone else also said, “hope you called the police, went to the hospital and hired an attorney all in that order.” Others found it unreasonable that he would refuse to give her something she owned. “He asked you why do you want that piece…why the hell does he want it‼! It’s yours even if it’s broken!” one person wrote.
Many kept offering their support on every video the Washington woman posted regarding the assault. Someone gave her advice on everything she should do. “GO TO THE HOSPITAL, tell them what happened, get documentation, start seeing a chiropractor, and a LMTP/licensed massage therapist, keep detailed copies of bills, track gas mileage, note the fact that he failed you bc you wanted your car part back (that goes against his license), file a complaint with your local DOJ to revoke his licenses, etc GET A CONTINGENCY LAWYER IMMEDIATELY ‼‼” they wrote. Other comments from Black people came after the White garage employee. “You know them yts lie like the devil,” one person said. This made someone reply and say, “They are the devil!” The whole situation is just disgusting.
