Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton recently refused to answer questions regarding his past during a press conference. His refusal led to criticism online, as multiple Texas residents argued that the U.S. Senate candidate should not be running away from questions.
As reported by the San Antonio Current, Paxton was recently asked questions about his past. The mood “became tense” after a reporter asked about the politician owning 15 real estate properties in six states while earning an annual salary of $153,000. Other questions concerned how the AG allegedly voted in six elections over the past two years using an address where he does not live.
Paxton declined to answer the questions and was later accused of “fleeing from the press” by Texas Democratic Party spokesperson Ryan Martin. Martin called him “a coward who runs from reporters because he can’t defend his record.”

Paxton’s reaction during the press conference did not sit well with some local voters, who took to r/Texas to complain about his behavior. One of them said: “Texas will continue to suffer from corruption and declining healthcare and education quality as long as Texans keep voting for anyone with an R behind their name.”
Locals did not mince words when criticizing the Texas politician, saying: “He ran away. His weakness on full display. He should be embarrassed and humiliated, but he is too corrupt.” Someone else added: “Watch them sweat and change the subject! No questions please! My lies might get me in trouble with the voters who I intend to never represent, only collect my bribes and donations from the billionaires while I get rich enough to be a billionaire!”
What seemed to irritate most people was the same point raised by the Democratic spokesperson: “If he can’t speak up for himself, he won’t speak up for Texans. Please don’t vote for his cowardice.”
In any case, Ken Paxton continues his campaign to become a U.S. Senator, but he will have to continue facing difficult questions if he hopes to defeat Democratic candidate James Talarico in the upcoming election.
