While filming “Wednesday,” Jenna Ortega changed lines to suit her character and failed to communicate with writers, but revealing this scored her some criticism online that she had to delete her Twitter account.
Wednesday’s Jenna Ortega plays Wednesday Addams in the hit series introduced to Netflix last year. After being made executive producer, she revealed some shocking details.
During a chit-chat on the Arm Chair podcast, Ortega mentioned putting her foot down while working on the project.
The 20-year-old claimed some of her comments, and acts did not make sense. She shared:
“There were times on that set where I even became unprofessional in a sense where I just started changing lines.”
Jenna Ortega changed lines even though it meant conflicting with writers. However, she often explained why she could not perform according to the script.
In the end, the actress always felt accomplished with whatever scene was shot, even though Wednesday was never her “proudest moment.”
Jenna Ortega "became almost unprofessional" on the #Wednesday set and "just started changing lines." Why? “Everything she does, everything I had to play, did not make sense for her character at all. Her being in a love triangle? It made no sense." https://t.co/2s7mdDQ5oz

The “Jenna Ortega Changed Lines” Confession Attracted Criticism
Wednesday‘s Jenna Ortega ended up going offline following the flock of naysayers who trolled her via Twitter.
It was well established that Jenna Ortega changed lines without first consulting the writers or script director, and this was not taken likely.
A writer named Michael Sheridan claimed he understood the attacks from some writers, adding:
“The way this is framed… it appears she claims she knew better than the writers, better than Tim Burton, & she’s why the show was a hit.”
Mark Harris, a reporter, did not object to contributions from actors but claimed it should come with a memo, not an explanation after, or publicly shaming writers.
One fan made a rather personal attack, the person called her actions disrespectful, before advising Ortega to quit if she cannot bend to the rule of acting.
Amid the backlash, some patted the actress on the back, chiming words of support. One Twitter user expressed disdain for the series, claiming:
“Those of us who were brave enough to publicly dislike Wednesday… are feeling so validated this week cuz the star of the show doesn’t seem to like it either.”
Another quipped:
“Jenna Ortega is brilliant. Completely nailed her performance…And from the looks of it, put her foot down exactly when it needed to be put down.”
Hours after the criticisms started to reel in, Jenna Ortega deactivated her Twitter account. Many believed it was because of fans’ reactions to her podcast comments.
