Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney made a bold promise to the Welsh town of Wrexham when they bought the local football team, A.F.C. Wrexham. Things are going well in more ways than one for the two actors and now co-owners of a professional football team. FX has renewed Welcome to Wrexham, the docuseries on their journey, for season 3.
The two seasons of the docuseries have spread across many topics about their journey. It has focused on the team’s attempt to climb up the professional football hierarchy, the lives of the individual members, the culture and people of the town, and the business of owning both the men’s and women’s football teams. However, it mainly focuses on the men’s team. The second season, which airs its finale tonight, has broadened the topics, like following a fan with autism and the success of the women’s team.
FX Renewed Welcome to Wrexham for Season 3 as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney Continue Their Business
Reynolds is no stranger to expanding his sights beyond filmmaking. The Deadpool actor has various investments and businesses in different industries, like the beverage industry with Aviation Gin and phone services with Mint Mobile. This venture started with the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-creator coming up with the idea and then reaching out to Reynolds for financial support, which bloomed into a close friendship.
FX had hit gold with Welcome to Wrexham, making it not a surprise for it to be renewed for season 3. The series has not only had the viewership to back it up but also six Emmy nominations.
While we wait for the inevitable season 3 of Welcome to Wrexham, the first two seasons can be watched now. For U.S. viewers, it is available on Hulu. For Canada, it can be watched on Apple TV+. For the rest of the available territories, the series is on Disney Plus.
