Deadpool is now in the driver’s seat. Ryan Reynolds invests in all kinds of businesses, and now the Formula 1 Alpine Race Team is among them. The partnership between Ryan Reynolds and RedBird is said to grow the Formula 1 team and its future plans. The sport has grown in popularity since 2017, after years of decline in worldwide viewership. Viewership in the U.S. has also grown due to the popular BAFTA-nominated Netflix docuseries Formula 1: Drive to Survive.
Ryan Reynolds Invests in Formula 1 Alpine Race Team for $218 million
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter. He joins private equity firm RedBird Capital Partners and Otro Capital for a 24% stake ($218 million/€200 million). Between other celebrity backers, Rob McElhenney and Michael B. Jordan, the team is now valued at approximately $900 million (€824 million).
Beyond Formula 1, Ryan Reynolds has plenty of non-movie business ventures. He is most notable for his gin brand, Aviation Gin, affordable phone service Mint Mobile, and collaboration with McElhenney to buy Welsh football team Wrexham AFC. He has made successful partnerships and acquisitions in this side of his career, like Mint being acquired by T-Mobile for $1.35 billion. His other businesses include the production and marketing agency Maximum Effort, the Canadian hockey team Ottawa Senators, the wealth management company Wealthsimple, and the tech company Nuvei.
Beyond business investments and managerial duties, he has quite a lineup of films. The actor is currently filming Deadpool 3. Despite the WGA strike, the production has moved forward as the cast has been instructed to stick to the script to avoid crossing the picket line. This year, he appeared in the Chris Evans and Ana de Armas movie Ghosted. His upcoming productions include Dragon’s Lair, Roy Band, Clue, Everyday Parenting Tips, Futha Mucka, Imaginary Friends, and season 2 of Welcome to Wrexham, the docuseries that follows his co-owned football team.
