One of the most important aspects of Diablo 4, or any RPG for that matter, is the characters. Having a wide variety of unique classes, each featuring their own builds and abilities. Oftentimes, this sets a good RPG apart from a bad one. However, some classes are sadly bound to be a bit worse than others. For example, less rewarding gameplay for classes can cause players to pass them by. On the opposite side of the coin, some classes feature unique abilities and aesthetics that help rocket them to popularity. Despite doing a fairly good job balancing their classes overall, some of Diablo 4’s classes still get the short end of the stick. Despite this, some may even find that Diablo 4’s most-played and least-played classes are a bit surprising.
Diablo 4 is an action RPG that features five classes overall. Players can choose from the Druid, Sorcerer, Barbarian, Rogue, and Necromancer when creating their character. Each of these classes features its own unique abilities and build paths, as well as extreme playstyle differences that help set them apart. Generally, players often pick the class that best suits their playstyle overall. For example, someone who likes to play aggressive melee characters should pick the Barbarian class. Despite this, two of Diablo 4’s classes are still the most and least-played classes in the game for a multitude of reasons.
The Sorcerer Is Diablo 4’s Most Popular Class
Surprisingly, Diablo 4 has revealed that the most-played class is the Sorcerer. In a tweet, Furgosson directly states, “..the number 1 most-played class in #DiabloIV is the Sorcerer/Sorceress!” Although it seems like this information may change at any time in the future, for now, magic users are dominating Diablo 4. Reasons for this popularity may be the allure of being a powerful spellcaster in a fantasy game. Additionally, the Sorcerer can also attract some players who are fans of hanging in the background of fights. This helps create less stress overall in various encounters. Finally, the Sorcerer seems to be at the top of many online tier lists and is a very strong class overall. The Sorcerer would be an obvious choice for the many new players getting into the game.
Pssst!
I didn't ask for permission to share this but I thought you might be interested to know that right now, the number 1 most played class in #DiabloIV is the Sorcerer/Sorceress!
But you didn't hear it from me. In case someone from PR or Marketing asks… pic.twitter.com/aOXdt0qqgp

The Druid May Be Diablo 4’s Least Popular Class
On the other hand, no specific class has been officially named Diablo 4’s least-played class. However, many online speculations have been arguing that the Druid is probably the least popular overall. For example, many already knew that the Sorcerer and Necromancer would be fan favorites since they were extremely popular in past games. On the flip side of that, many have reported that the Druid was one of Diablo 2’s least-played classes. While it is great to see the Druid back in a game again, it seems like this lack of popularity will continue into Diablo 4. Another reason for the lack of popularity could be the class itself, which presents the least amount of gameplay specialization and can perform well in multiple roles. Additionally, many tier lists place the Druid towards the middle or bottom of Diablo 4’s classes.
Class Popularity May Change In The Future
It’s only natural that some of Diablo 4’s characters will be more popular than others. However, many new players will be coming to the game over time. Although these are Diablo 4’s most and least popular classes, the list could be completely different in the future. Numbers that rank the popularity of each class should be more solidified around a year into Diablo 4’s release, or potentially even sooner. Despite this, defining these classes as most and least popular may contribute to their popularity as well. For example, now that there is a stigma surrounding the Druid as the least popular class, fewer players might try it.
Currently, going purely on statistics, the Sorcerer is the definitive, most-popular class in the game. Additionally, although it hasn’t been confirmed, many believe the Druid to be Diablo 4’s least popular class. In the end, players should play any of Diablo 4’s classes that they enjoy. Focusing too much on what’s popular may cause some players to lose sight of what they enjoyed in the past. The most important aspect of picking a class is to play what role is enjoyable for you. Whether that is the Sorcerer’s powerful magic or the Druid’s versatility is up to the player.
