In the endless space, you can find many interesting objects and put them in the cargo hold of your ship. The strange thing is that when players interact with the vault and open the menu, they see a Jettison button that does not appear in any game interface. So we will explain what Jettison does in Starfield. Many people have tried to press the button, but most of them do not understand what happened. So without further ado, let’s get into it!

Well, if you’ve tried to figure it out yourself by clicking on this button many times, we have bad news. Jettison is responsible for disposing of objects from the ship, which means it throws them straight into outer space. Thus, you could have thrown away valuable items because there are no restrictions on the weight or size of the object, everything you choose goes on a journey in the vacuum. This does not apply to quest items and artifacts that stay with you.

It’s also worth noting that this feature works only on your ship, and you’re unlikely to see the Jettison button anywhere else. This way, when you’re in the cargo hold, you can sort your items and throw them away to reduce weight if you’re overloaded, or simply throw away unnecessary junk.

Also, this function will be useful if you are transporting contraband and are not sure that your shielded cargo modules and scan jammer will work correctly. You simply throw away the contraband in exchange for freedom and avoidance of large fines. If you don’t know what items are included in the contraband, here’s the entire list:

  • AI components
  • Drugs from Neon
  • Harvested Organs
  • Heratic Scriptures
  • Mech components
  • Stolen Files
  • Xenowarfare Tech

Can You Get Your Items Back After Jettison?

If you have thrown away a lot of items and regret it, don’t try to find them in outer space or hope that they landed on one of the planets. Unfortunately, they have disappeared forever into space and it is impossible to get them back. But don’t worry, there is still one way that not everyone will like. You need to load your last save where you haven’t thrown away any items yet. This way, by rolling the game back, you can get your stuff and continue your journey.
