CRPG fans are wondering what Baldur’s Gate 3 max level cap is. The latest title in the classic RPG series, planned to be released in August this year, is highly anticipated by hardcore players. In titles like these, players are free to min-max their characters’ stats to fully realize their potential in combat. However, such things can be achieved with high enough levels. So, what is the max level in Baldur’s Gate 3?

The max level cap of Baldur’s Gate 3 will be Level 12. At that point, players can unlock powerful spells like the Planar Allies, Otto’s Irresistible Dance, and Chain Lightning. Larian Studios wrote that they were planning to make Level 10 to be the base level cap. However, limiting the level cap that low will not let players obtain “rad high-level spells.” For that reason, the developer team raised the level cap to 12 instead.

“While we originally planned for Level 10 to be the highest character level in the game, too many rad high-level spells would have been left just out of reach had we done so. Instead, Baldur’s Gate 3 players will be able to reach Level 12, unlocking Planar Allies, Otto’s Irresistible Dance, and Chain Lightning.”

Of course, we are just talking about the base game of Baldur’s Gate 3. Expansion packs for similar games have often raised the level cap beyond what was initially set. This might suggest that future DLC for this title may also increase the level cap. In Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition tabletop ruleset, which Baldur’s Gate 3 is based on, the level cap is 20. With that in mind, players can expect the possibility of the level cap reaching Level 20 through future updates.

Aside from level cap, Larian Studios has confirmed the latest addition to skill upgrades. At launch, there will be 37 possible Feats to choose from. Most will be completely new to the game’s series. Baldur’s Gate 3 will also have over 600 player spells and sub-spells at launch, which doesn’t even include upcasting. 51 of them will also be completely new spells, such as Dominate Person, Flame Strike, and Circle of Doom.
