Want to know what is gray health in Remnant 2? Boss fighting, puzzles, and exploration of procedurally generated worlds are integral parts of your journey through the worlds of Remnant 2. But apart from that, the game has many unique mechanics, the comprehension of which will give you an advantage in any battle. From the beginning of your journey, you must have noticed one feature of your health bar. When taking damage, part of the health is lost, while a small area of the bar turns gray. The in-game tutorial in Remnant 2 doesn’t explain what gray health is, but we’re here to explain it.

Remnant 2: Gray Health Explained

First of all, it is worth noting that gray health is temporarily lost HP and will replenish over time on its own. All damage you take from any source is divided into two parts. Half of the health disappears while the other half changes color to grey. You can only restore lost health with the help of consumable items or another player. Even after the battle, you won’t be able to auto-heal. But gray health, on the contrary, will slowly regenerate.

Gray health recovery rate is low, but it’s better than nothing. This ability is especially good for boss fights. These creatures are strong, and sometimes your supplies of healing items will not be enough. For example, by taking massive damage at once, you will lose a lot of HP but also turn most of the health bar gray. You can restore more than half of your health and continue the battle by retreating and waiting for a while.

Can You Increase or Upgrade Gray Health in Remnant 2?

The answer is yes and no. For example, by equipping the Dread Font Ring, you can increase gray health regeneration by 2 HP per second. It is a powerful buff, but it’s all you can do. There is no way to raise your gray HP bar when you take damage (50% standard damage, 50% gray damage). The size of the gray health bar depends entirely on the damage you take.

However, this mechanic allows you to create more variable builds. Some build buff players for taking damage. The gray bar is still health loss. Thus, you can get a buff, after which part of the health will self-heal over time without using consumable items.
