In Hogwarts Legacy, if roaming the open grounds doesn’t take up your time, the multitude of quests certainly will. There is one in particular that involves disguising yourself, not just being invisible. For it, what you say matters just as much as how you look. To succeed in this Hogwarts Legacy quest, you must discover the Black Family Motto.
Since this deals with a quest, some spoilers will follow.
Black Family Motto in Hogwarts Legacy – Answered
The deal with the Black Family Motto comes up during the main Hogwarts Legacy questline of “The Polyjuice Plot”. You can only reach this quest once you get to Level 23 and finish “The Headmistress Speaks”. As the name of this quest implies, you will disguise yourself as Professor Black via Polyjuice Potion.
If you know anything about this potion from the franchise, you know that although it changes how you look, it doesn’t impact how you think. You gain no knowledge from the person you are pretending to be. This can’t be more true than at a point in this quest when you speak to Scrope in an attempt to learn a password.
This is when you learn the Black Family Motto in Hogwarts Legacy. Scrope will ask you what it is, and you are presented with three possible answers:
- It’s to do with strength.
- It’s to do with my family’s reign.
- It’s to do with purity of blood.
You want to select: It’s to do with purity of blood. After you do so, Scrope will reveal the Black Family Motto: Toujours Pur.
Getting the answer wrong does nothing but give you another chance to get it correct. From here, you can continue on with the quest.
With the quest out of the way, you may wonder if you can use the ever-helpful Polyjuice Potion again. Unfortunately, this seems to be a one-time thing just to get the Black Family Motto in Hogwarts Legacy. In fact, you don’t truly make it since Professor Fig will give it to you. So, enjoy it while you can.
