‘What is There to Be Proud Of?’: Connecticut Man Sparks Outrage After Wishing ‘Trump Dies’ on the 4th of July

Uh huh?

The Fourth of July is either off to a rough start or a great start depending on whom you ask, but for one man in Connecticut, it doesn’t matter much to him unless something more interesting happens during the day, such as Trump supposedly perishing like the other three former Presidents who died on the 4th of July. The opinion has since sparked a debate and outrage online.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Fourth of July, and maybe… juuuuust maybe, we’ll even get to celebrate an Independence Day like never before! #worldcup #maga

TikTok user @the.wet.ham from Connecticut is the bold man in question, and on July 2, he posted a rant on his personal account complaining about the holiday. Apparently, the TikTok user is not exactly happy with the 4th of July anymore, saying, “Is anybody else struggling with the 4th of July and celebrating?” He added, “Because I don’t feel like I want to… What are you proud of, exactly? What is there to be proud of?”

But what really riled up certain people on the internet was the next statement: “Given the fact that three other Presidents have left this plane of existence on the 4th of July, a fourth one would be a reason for the season.” Certain “patriots” online have taken this to mean that the TikTok user wanted to see President Donald Trump dead.

One of the most viral reactions to the TikTok user’s rant stated that “These people live the most miserable lives…” since “he WON’T be celebrating 4th of July and that he hopes President Trump dies.” To be fair, the TikTok user didn’t exactly drop any names, and technically didn’t specifically want Trump dead, only a US President, and Trump just happens to be the current one.

People Online Are Torn About the Celebration

As for the three other US Presidents who died during the 4th of July, those would be John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Monroe, though all those happened long before the 1900s. In any case, the TikTok user’s opinion on not celebrating America’s Independence Day has divided social media users.

On one hand, there are also many commenters who agreed with him, even claiming that they’re “Wearing black to work tomorrow.” A shocking poll even reveals that nearly half of all US citizens are not celebrating or won’t be doing anything on July 4, even though it’s more special than others since it’s America’s 250th year.

For the other half, however, it appears the non-participation of a big chunk of their fellow Americans is not a deal-breaker. Some of them even had strong opinions about it, saying, “If you aren’t celebrating America’s 250th, keep it to yourself. We simply do not care. This weekend is for the REAL Americans. Greatest country on earth.”
