While not the biggest Pokédex of recent games, this ninth generation still brings some fan-favorite Pokémon. One of the most iconic ones from the Hoenn era is Cacturne. The Grass/Dark-type Pokémon has some great stats and is pretty good in almost any team. Yet, to get Cacturne, you first need to know where to find Cacnea in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Thankfully, finding this little cactus Pokémon isn’t hard at all. So, if you are looking for a good Grass-type member for your team, in case you chose a Fire or Water starter, this guide will help you. Today we’ll tell you how to catch Cacnea in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Where to find Cacnea in Paldea

While Pokémon Scarlet and Violet allow you to go anywhere you want as soon as you finish the first hours, you still need to prepare. Finding Cacnea isn’t hard, but it requires some things first. Most of all, a Pokémon that can match Cacnea’s strength and level. Cacnea will appear in the Asado Desert. This area houses Pokémon that go from level 20 all the way to 26. So, for that, we recommend that you follow the next steps:

  • Finish the first gym (Bug-type) at level 15
  • Take on the first Titan Pokemon at level 16
  • Finish the second gym (Grass-type) at level 17
  • Beat the second Titan Pokemon at level 19
  • Face the first boss of Team Star at level 21

These steps will get you closer to the Asado Desert and the level requirements to catch Cacnea.

The first two badges will allow you to catch Pokémon up to level 30. This means that you’ll be able to get Cacnea for your team without a problem. If you want to capture it, though, we recommend that you take any Pokémon that can use the move Hypnosis. This move will make the wild creature sleep making its capture a lot easier.
That is everything we have about where to find Cacnea in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. So, get ready to hop on your Koraidon or Miraidon and explore what Paldea offers.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available now for the Nintendo Switch.
