Iron Moth is a Paradox pocket monster in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that serves as the alternative version of Volcarona. Iron Moth is a Fire- and Poison-type creature that excels in SpAtk and is an excellent combatant to battle against Grass-, Bug-, and Fairy-type opponents. As a Paradox Pokémon, this moth cannot be evolved but can only be captured in a location known as Area Zero, a site that can be found within The Great Crater of Paldea. Accordingly, Trainers must know how to access this Area Zero if they wish to encounter a Wild Iron Moth in Pokémon Violet.

Finding Iron Moth in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Finding Iron Moth in Area Zero of Pokémon Violet

To get Iron Moth in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Trainers must enter Area Zero through the Zero Gate and travel to Research Station No. 1. Outside the door; they should be able to find one to multiple Iron Moths wandering the slopes of the crater.

Based on YouTube footage provided by 100% Guides, Iron Moths should spawn very close to the doorway or Research Station No. 1 in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. However, if Trainers are struggling to encounter this robotic moth and have searched the entire level without finding one, there is a solution to their predicament. First, Trainers must exit Area 0 and return to the main provinces of Paldea. Next, they need to set up a Picnic in order to make and consume Great Noodle Sandwich. This meal will grant the Poison Encounter Level 2 buff, which is one of the elements of Iron Moth’s dual-elemental nature. Eating this sandwich should cause Iron Moth to spawn directly outside the door of Research Station No. 1.

As for those who have yet to unlock Area Zero, Try Hard Guides states that Trainers must gain access to The Way Home storyline, which is only available in the postgame portion of one’s playthrough. In other words, players must complete Victory Roads, Path of Legends, and Starfall Street before they can start The Way Home and enter Area Zero. This requirement in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet applies not only to Iron Moth but also to the rest of the Paradox pocket monsters within The Crater. Moreover, remember that only Violet users can encounter Iron Moth, while Scarlet players can only get this exclusive via Trading or entering a Violet Host’s world.
