Nintendo took the gaming world by storm with the original Switch. Now the Switch 2 is back to do the same. Whereas the previous console blew gamers away with its adaptability, the Switch 2 has different virtual fish to fry. Better graphics? Faster gameplay? Better rumbles? We’ll be getting all of that and more, in addition to a great lineup of games on launch to hit the ground running. Whether you’re hyped for the new camera and chat functions, Mario Kart World, or FromSoftware’s hot new game, it all starts the same way. Here’s where you can buy and preorder the Nintendo Switch 2 when it releases on June 5.
Nintendo Switch 2 Buying and Preorder Guide

With Mario Kart World and the rest of the launch lineup looking so good, it makes sense to grab a Switch 2 early. Preordering isn’t for everyone, but if you’re looking to get your hands on the Switch 2 as soon as possible, we’ve got you covered. You can preorder the Switch 2 from the official Nintendo website, but there are a few requirements you must meet:
- Sign in to your Nintendo account
- Register your interest in buying a Switch 2 from the My Nintendo Store
- Wait for Nintendo’s invitation email
This preorder offer has a few other requirements. In addition to having a Nintendo Account, you’ll also need to live in the U.S. or Canada and be at least 18 years old. Invitations are first-come, first-served, and you’ll need a preexisting Switch Online membership to preorder this way.
While those restrictions may seem excessive, they’re one way Nintendo is trying to stop product scalpers. The Switch 2 console carries a $450 base price. Alternatively, you can kick your Switch 2 journey off Kart style with the Mario Kart World bundle for $500.
In addition to Nintendo’s official site, you will also be able to preorder the system from most major retailers (including BestBuy, Amazon, and others), starting April 9. Whether you preorder the Nintendo Switch 2, buy it on launch day, or wait for the retail frenzy to die down is up to you. Everyone’s needs are different. When you’re ready to take the plunge, Nintendo’s new system has everything you need to start your new gaming journey off right. Just mind those Blue Shells. They’re always closer than you think.
