Caterpillar has the appearance of a young boy in Genshin Impact. What makes him weird is the way he speaks and his black hands. He speaks maturely, and his dialogue heavily suggests he isn’t human. What he is doesn’t become apparent until you complete the World Quest series, the Unfinished Comedy.

The Unfinished Comedy contains three quests for you to complete. You begin this series by starting the first quest. You start the first mission by sneaking into the Fortress of Meropide in Fontaine. Here are the three quests you need to finish to help Caterpillar.

  • Game of the Rich
  • An Eye for an Eye
  • Hereafter…

Cater is aiding a young girl named Lanoire to return her to her family. It’s eventually revealed that Cater in Genshin Impact is actually a sentient Hilichurl, a common enemy in the game that has a humanoid appearance. Caterpillar worked for the Narzissenkreuz Ordo under the leadership of their Master.

He reveals his true form while fighting in An Eye for an Eye. As a hilichurl, he is taller and more monstrous. Like others in his species, he wears a mask and tattered clothes. His skin is dark, and he attacks with a blade. After successfully helping Lanoire and completing the final quest in the Unfinished Comedy and the Riddles Awaiting Answers mission, Caterpillar can be found in The Narzissenkreuz Ordo.
