Venom will show up in the next Insomniac Games Spider-Man, and we get to see a lot from this antihero/villain. Venom has been a part of Spider-Man’s story since it was introduced back in 1984. However, this alien needs to be attached to a host body in order to reach its full potential, and it seems like its next appearance is going to be in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. But who will merge with Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2? Let’s see the possibilities.
Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
So far, we have seen a gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in Summer Game Fest 2023. In this trailer, Dr. Connors, better known as the Lizard, invades the city. He is planning something, and Miles Morales is out to stop him. But after a while, Peter Parker joins the fight with Venom!
In classic Marvel style, Peter has merged with the Venom symbiote. He has Venom’s power and abilities, which have also changed the gameplay. But we know that Peter won’t stick to Venom for long, and he will take this black costume off eventually. After that, who will be the Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2? Eddie Brock? I don’t think so.
Is Eddie Brock Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?
No, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2‘s director has confirmed that Eddie Brock won’t be the Venom in this game. In original Spider-Man stories, Eddie Brock bonds with the Venom symbiote to take revenge on Peter Parker. But with no revenge story and Eddie Brock out of the picture, it seems like Venom’s host in the Insomniac’s Spider-Man universe will be someone else.
The game’s director Brian Intihar revealed that Marvel’s Spider-Man story is not going to follow the same path as the movies and comics. In fact, they are trying to show a Spider-Man narrative that you’ve never seen and experienced before, which doesn’t have an Eddie Brock as Venom.
Who Else Can Merge With The Symbiote?
Literally, anyone can bond with Venom! But if you’ve seen the art and shared images of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, it is evident that Peter and Miles will not be the villain. Peter uses the symbiote at some point but probably gets rid of it because that’s what a Spider-Man does. Now, with that in mind, who is inside the black symbiote that fights Peter and Miles? Harry Osborn? That’s a good guess.
Why Harry Osborn is Known To Become Venom?
In 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man game, there was a scene where Norman Osborn goes to his secret lab to visit his son, Harry. Just like his mother, Harry is sick, and he will probably die unless Norman finds a cure for him. We saw a very clever tease for Venom’s appearance in the upcoming game in this scene. Or at least that’s what it looked like.
Harry is kept inside a tank filled with water and some black webs. This looks much like Venom, or at least a part of it is being tested on Harry. Although before Norman frees his son from this tank, a client warns him about how dangerous it can be. This is making Harry a villain whatsoever.
Regardless of the host, Venom will be in Marvel’s Spider-Man, and the #1 candidate here is Harry. Maybe he can be cured while inside this symbiote, and we will see how he confronts Peter and tries to kill him and Miles. Aside from that, Norman Osborn is also an excellent option for bonding with Venom. He was the one responsible for most of the happenings in the previous Spider-Man game’s tragic narrative, and all of it happened without him being the Green Goblin!

In the next game, Peter and Miles may fight both Osborns to prevent a mess. One of the Osborns could become the Venom, and the other supports him with the Green Goblin suit. This is while anyone could still be Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. For instance, even Kraven The Hunter might join the symbiote!
But without an official reveal and info, take all of these guesses with a grain of salt. More details about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are definitely on the way, and we should be getting more info on Venom in the upcoming months.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to release for PlayStation 5 consoles on October 20.
