Nicole Sherbiny’s time in Egypt has raised concerns from 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way fans. TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way showcases the love stories of couples who meet in the most unusual ways but are still looking to make their relationship work, even if it means traveling thousands of miles across the ocean to be with their love interests. 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way introduced fans to some couples who looked perfect together and some with obvious hurdles to overcome in their relationship.
Nicole and Mahmoud Sherbiny perfectly fit the second description. The two arguably have the most erratic relationship on the show, and for most fans, all of their problems started from the beginning of their whirlwind romance. The two met while Nicole was on a spiritual trip to Egypt, and barely a few hours later, Mahmoud proposed to Nicole, and she surprisingly accepted.
Three weeks later, she returned to Egypt to get married to Mahmoud without telling her friends or family. Sadly, that’s about all the positive excitement their relationship has generated since marriage. The couple has been at each other’s throats since the season began and cannot seem to come to any compromise regarding their cultural disparities.
More recently, things got heated between the two after a massive clash in public. The two had been having a good time swimming before things took a quick turn after Mahmoud made a passive-aggressive remark at Nicole that sent her off her rails. Nicole and Mahmoud subsequently exchanged heated words that ended with Nicole shoving Mahmoud after he repeatedly tried to stop her from walking away.
90 Day Fiancé Fans Think Nicole Sherbiny Is Delusional
After watching their relationship since the season premiered, fans are still trying to make sense of the duo’s relationship. Most fans can’t seem to wrap their heads around why the two are bent on staying together when they do not connect. Nevertheless, what is most baffling to the show’s viewers is why Nicole sticks with Mahmoud despite looking more isolated and depressed with each episode.
Following their most recent fight, one Reddit user and 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way fan Junior-Efficiency-30 started a thread to discuss Nicole’s angle in the relationship. The OP highlighted how Nicole seemingly had a good life and business in the US. They also showed that she was pretty and had a decent character. Additionally, Nicole mentioned how she was happily single for 10 years before marrying Mahmoud.
Finally, the OP queried why she would leave everything behind to settle for a life with Mahmoud, who isn’t exactly the most accomplished guy on the show. Many fans were as perplexed as the OP and couldn’t exactly put a read on Nicole’s mind. While commenting, One user, SnooLemons1862, said,
“How their relationship began and what “spark” was there is such a mystery to me. She seems like a nice person… but she’s also said she’s very introverted and that her “friends” barely knew anything about her marriage – so what’s going on in her head is a big ???? to me.”
Many users could see Mahmoud’s incentive to want to remain in the relationship. They cited her beauty and how she might have some sort of exotic appeal to him. However, nothing could explain Nicole’s decision to marry Mahmoud and relocate to Egypt in the first place. For most fans, the two look miserable together and only seem to be a couple because Nicole can’t bring herself to see the reality of things.
Nicole Can Do Better Than Mahmoud
While still trying to make sense of Nicole’s marriage to Mahmoud, another group of fans expressed how they felt Nicole could do a lot better for herself than settle for a life of unhappiness with Mahmoud in Egypt. Many fans highlighted how Nicole was too good to waste precious time in Egypt when she could have better men lined up for her back in the US. The users pointed to her seemingly stable life in the US, which saw her holding multiple jobs and running her own business.
Before joining 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Nicole was based in Los Angeles and worked as a food delivery driver. She also earned some money on the side as a clothing reseller. More importantly, Nicole graduated from college in 2022. So, for many fans, it is disturbing that she would leave all this behind for a sad life in Egypt. While commenting on the thread, most users concluded that Nicole must have serious self-esteem issues for putting up with such a shambolic marriage.
The users buttressed their claims by pointing at her age (38) and drawing a contrast to her behavior. They argued that for someone that old, she should be able to take more control of her life. Her inability to do that only proves that there might be some underlying issues, such as an inferiority complex.
