Call of Duty has always been open to putting the most unrelated characters beside Captain Price and making Russel Adler actually neigh like a unicorn. There’s something within these crossovers that’s absolutely killing Call of Duty‘s style, and it’s been crushed right now. Beavis and Butt-Head are in Black Ops 6 Season 4 Reloaded, and many of the prominent Call of Duty players and content creators are taking a break from the game. But why?
Let’s start with the finish and give you the answer right away; it’s the art style and theme of the game. Now, before any attacks on “Oh, but Call of Duty is not or was not a mil-sim to start with,” I have to tell you that it honestly has nothing to do with that. I’d like it to be mil-sim, but I’d play Fortnite if I wanted the game to look the way it does these days. The main theme of Call of Duty, which had a pinch of realism behind its back, is all gone, and that’s one of my main issues with the game.

Imagine you’re watching Saving Private Ryan, and Michelangelo shows up with his brothers right in between the battle that’s deciding the outcome of WWII. Too old? What about Chris Hemsworth teaming up with Spongebob Square Pants to save Bikini Bottom in the next Extraction movie? It just doesn’t make sense, and while Spongebob has a special place in my heart, I really don’t want to see him and Patrick in a military-based action thriller movie.
We’re not dealing with rocket science here; the idea of Beavis and Butt-Head in Black Ops 6 Season 4 Reloaded is just out of the park. We’ve been keeping up with some of the most unrelated crossovers in the past couple of years in Call of Duty and that’s becoming a second factor for players to leave this game aside from the annoying hackers and seasonal bugs.
To help sink as deep as possible with Beavis and Butt-Head having no place in Call of Duty whatsoever, let’s try reverse thoughts. We have Fortnite that has its own style and pace, and it’s made in a way that characters like Peter Griffin perfectly match the theme, right? Now put Dominic Torreto with Call of Duty‘s graphic and character design in that game. That.
