Kate Middleton has a royal event lined up for June 2024 despite her cancer battle, at least experts think so as the 2024 Trooping the Colour draws closer. The Princess of Wales has kept a low profile since coming clean about her cancer battle in March. She made her last public appearance around Christmas, just days before undergoing a planned abdominal surgery. While the palace has confirmed the princess would put all official royal duties on hold pending her recovery, she is likely to grace a special family event come June 2024.
Kate Middleton to Appear at Trooping the Colour 2024
Royal expert Gareth Russell recently weighed in on the possibility of Kate Middleton’s appearance at the Trooping the Colours 2024. According to him (via Usmagazine), the Princess is likely to attend this year’s ceremony if deemed well enough. However, that “could change at a moment’s notice. The royal event, which honors the birthday of King Charles, usually holds annually, with all the royals in attendance to celebrate the reigning monarch with a military ceremony/parade.
Another royal expert Tessa Dunlop is also positive the princess would make it to the event. Tessa pointed out that “the nation is gunning for Kate to get better,” and seeing her at the event would be a ray of sunshine. “The monarchy needs her,” Tessa added.
Notably, England’s Ministry of Defence previously confirmed Kate Middleton’s appearance at the Trooping the Colour event prior to her cancer revelation. However, People reported that the ministry failed to consult the palace before including Kate’s name among attendees. They eventually scratch off the Princess’ name from the official website of the event. Hence, her appearance come June 15 remains largely uncertain.
What the Palace Thinks of Kate’s Attendance
While the palace has yet to officially confirm Kate’s attendance, the consensus remains that the Princess would only return to royal duties after her recovery. A spokesperson for Kensington Palace revealed in March,
“The Princess will return to official duties when she is cleared to do so by her medical team. She is in good spirits and is focused on making a full recovery.”
So far, there’s been no official update on the Princess’ ongoing treatment or recovery. However, Prince William’s return to royal duties on Thursday, April 18, in high spirits could be an indication that things are progressing positively behind the curtains. Hence, a Public sighting of Kate Middleton at this year’s Trooping the Colours is highly plausible.
