Will Poulter has been cast in Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings. He will star as one of the leads of the show. However, the nature of the character is being kept under wraps. The news comes from Variety who learned this from their sources.
The show was first learned of back in 2017, from another Variety exclusive, and has revealed few details. Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings official Twitter shared two messages regarding the plot:
“One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them, In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie,”
“Welcome to the Second Age.”
For all those non-Tolkien lore nuts, the Second Age is the age in which the Rings of Power were created. Will we see the Kings of Numenor? The creation of Barad-dur? We will have to wait and see!
Who is Will Poulter?
Will Poulter is a British actor who first gained recognition in Son of Rambo (2007). Over the past year, he has starred in Black Mirror’s interactive film Bandersnatch (2018) and Ari Aster’s Midsommar (2019). Other notable roles include The Revenant (2015) and Detroit (2017).
So, with a credit list like that, it is clear that the young actor is certain to bring a high caliber performance to the series.
The Lord of the Rings Crew:
The Lord of the Rings has a quality crew working on the production. Writing team JD Payne and Patrick McKay are developing the series. Game of Thrones’ Bryan Cogman has signed on as consulting producer and J.A Bayona is set to direct several episodes. We are also getting Gennifer Hutchinson, from Breaking Bad fame, serving as writer and executive producer.
With the recent news and all the other top tier crew working on the project, The Lord of the Rings one of my most anticipated shows.
