If you’ve had the unfortunate luck to see the first Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood & Honey, the idea of watching a sequel would likely make your stomach churn. Yet, as fate would have it, perhaps the world is finally accepting the idea of a “Poohniverse,” as Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood & Honey 2 debuted with shockingly high ratings. While the score has steadily dropped over the past few hours, it’s certainly higher than expected.
Oh, Bother: Winnie-the-Pooh Blood & Honey Might Not Suck
Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood & Honey 2 made headlines when it debuted at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, granted, with a lower overall score of around 6/10 and only around 7 reviews at the time. This stood in stark contrast to the first film’s terrible score, which currently stands at an abysmal 3%. Currently, the score has dropped quite significantly, landing at a 63% Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes. Still, I’m rooting for this film to stay Fresh. The unexpected is always exciting, right?
Certainly, every pot has its lid. I’m sure there are fans of the original film and the idea of a “Poohniverse.” Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood & Honey 2 is the second entry of a planned multiverse of beloved icons from your youth thrown into a meat grinder and bastardized into new horror variants, designed to kill unsuspecting victims and ruin childhoods. It’s admittedly a funny concept, even if it sounds like more of a prank than anything else.
The audience seems to be a bit more open to the sequel film as well, with an audience rating of 83% and an average score of 4.2 out of 5. Other films set to release in the franchise include a horror version of Bambi, Pinocchio, and Peter Pan. A planned Avengers-style team-up of these horror villains is also in the works, so yeah, I guess we’ve got that going for us.
