It’s not wrong to have an opinion about someone, but voicing that opinion can get people into trouble, the staff of a Wisconsin dental clinic being a prime example. A patient, who goes by Quijote424 on Reddit, says she was discussing sedation medication options with the clinic’s consultant and got into some drama over how the payments were made. When the conversation ended, Quijote says she couldn’t end the call because she was driving, but was shocked to hear what came out on the other side.
The dentist’s employee, who’s called Mary in this story, failed to hang up and seemingly wasn’t aware Quijote was still on the line. “ I listened to her and the office staff mock me,” OP recalled aghast. “Mary said I was probably going to use this as an excuse to cancel the appointment and keep the drugs I was prescribed – three sedation pills. I was honestly shocked and embarrassed.”
Needless to say, it’s one thing to vent about petty customers, but it’s another thing entirely when staff are allegedly mocking and accusing a client of something not true. However, Quijote claims she’s hesitant about bringing up the situation to the staff. Apparently, the dentist is a friend of her husband’s friend, so she can’t imagine making a scene over something she might be overreacting to.
Reddit Urged the Wisconsin Patient to Call Out the Dental Staff Over Her Uncalled-For Comments
According to Reddit, though, she was not overreacting. “NOR – jeopardize her job,” demanded a commenter. “This is unprofessional. Wildly so. If she did this to you, she’s done it to others.” Another user chimed in with a call to action: “Their boss needs to know this and Mary needs to find another line of work if she can’t restrain herself.”
One person commented on how this could be a serious HIPAA violation, not to mention the thousands of dollars that Quijote has been allegedly quoted for the whole dental procedure. “This behavior is unacceptable. You are not putting Mary’s job in jeopardy; she is doing that herself,” added another.
Quijote did end up confronting Mary about her comments, to which the employee apologized and promised to keep things professional. Even so, it’d be hard for anyone to continue with a procedure in a room with staff who you know look down on you inside.
