Wisconsin Woman’s Calm Divorce Vlog Leaves Viewers Stunned: ‘I Need to Be This Unbothered’

It’s for the best

A woman in Wisconsin decided to file for divorce after she reached an understanding with her now-ex-husband. However, she decided to vlog the entire process alongside him, resulting in a viral video that shocked many and left others with a bunch of questions.

@shepherdplayspiano

I feel really good about this decision. We both have such exciting futures. Just not together. ❤️ Also, I feel like having a milk truck spray milk all over your car is a very Wisconsin thing. 😅 #divorce #filefordivorce #breakup #holly #movingon

Holly, who goes by shepherdplayspiano online, shared the vlog on social media, including TikTok. She is a popular content creator who often shares meals cooked for her children and previously shared her fertility journey as well. The clip attached above stood out, though, as it garnered 335,400 views, 29,800 likes, and close to 500 comments.

The Wisconsin woman started with the big news, saying, “We’re going to file for divorce.” Standing right next to her was James, who used to be her husband. With a smile on her face, and not so much in the man’s face, she detailed that the trip to the courthouse was “crazy,” as a milk truck almost “spilt milk” all over her car. She would then record the hood of her car, covered in milk droplets.

Eventually, the couple did go inside the courthouse, although James needed a bathroom break first. Out of respect for the worker, the actual filing process wasn’t filmed. But they did get a divorce, and while sharing some gyros afterward for lunch, Holly gave some specifics.

“And that’s it. It went really well. It was $184.50 to file the forms. And then, since we did it together, there is a 120-day waiting period. So not that bad. There are a few other things we have to fill out, but pretty cheap,” she said.

Holly called it a “great experience” and “way easier” than what she thought it would be. She added that she was excited for the future, and James agreed, saying, “We’ll be better for it for sure.”

Divorce Context

@shepherdplayspiano

I’ve had a steady flow of new people here since my divorce announcement, so I thought I would share my story. ❤️ #holly #divorce #infertility #loss #howigothere

In a previous clip, Holly described what happened between the two. They met after she had two children through fertility treatments and got married months later. The couple attempted to have a child of their own, but things didn’t work out, as she went through 14 procedures, a baby loss, and an eventual hysterectomy.

They turned to surrogacy, and Holly began fundraising, as it isn’t cheap. As the Wisconsin woman was grieving for her lost baby and trying to come up with the money, James talked to her. He told her he needed “less responsibility.” So they decided to break up.

Reactions

The divorce vlog sparked multiple responses, with many pointing out Holly’s demeanor throughout the clip. One commented, “I need to be this unbothered.” Another commenter said, “I’m so obsessed with you, this is so funny how chill and nonchalant you are.”

Others found the video odd, especially due to James. One wrote, “He has a very strange energy.” Another one added, “He doesn’t want to be in this video.”

Ultimately, Holly and James said they both felt the divorce was the right decision. Although their approach surprised many viewers, others praised the pair for handling such a difficult life event with maturity and respect. Holly later added that she has been feeling much better since the split.
