A couple in Tucson, Arizona, was about to share one of the most important moments in their lives: a marriage proposal. However, before the soon-to-be fiancé could get on one knee, a random woman, labeled an “old lady,” crashed into the private area where the proposal was taking place and decided to stick around, even after she was told to leave.
The clip was shared on TikTok by Elaine Griffith. She often shares lifestyle content with a discreet audience. This, however, didn’t stop the clip from becoming her biggest, garnering 1.7 million followers, 211,000 likes, and more than 1,000 comments.
The clip starts with the Arizona woman’s boyfriend reaching into a fountain and pulling out a box containing a ring. Elaine began laughing in excitement, fully aware of what her significant other was about to do. However, the proposal was briefly interrupted.
Suddenly, an older woman opened one half of the double door to the private Airbnb where the couple and their families were staying. The lady asked them a question, although it was really hard to understand.
In a follow-up clip, Elaine said that the woman was asking about a broken fence panel in the back of the house. Apparently, she was concerned since her family usually stays at the very same Airbnb when they visit.
Elaine’s family signaled for her to leave, but she remained at the door for a significant amount of time. The lady even opened the other half of the double door and continued speaking about the issue she had mentioned earlier.
Eventually, the lady left, and the Arizona man then got on one knee and proposed.
Internet Reacts To Proposal
The video sparked multiple responses.
Some viewers found the woman’s attitude unacceptable. One person said, “People are so rude. I’m glad y’all didn’t let it ruin your moment.”
Others, however, believed that Elaine and her now-fiancé were perhaps a bit too kind. One user wrote, “NONEEEE of you spoke up!?!?!” Another one asked, “Why don’t people set boundaries anymore?”
In the follow-up clip, Elaine said they were caught off guard by the interruption and preferred to avoid escalating the situation on such a special occasion.
