XSEED, makers of dreams, have released their lineup for this year’s E3. One look at the XSEED Twitter page shows that they are just as excited, if not more so, as their legions of fans. Truly, the word “bonkers” doesn’t describe the veritable wall of game announcements from the last couple weeks. Please not that a few of these games have already hit store shelves. So, without further preamble, let’s take a look at what we’ve got waiting for us.
Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders from Planet Space (PS Vita)
A direct sequel to Earth Defense Force 2017, Invaders has players taking on three distinct military classes, including the new Air Raider class. Using jet packs, air strikes, standard weaponry and so much more, defend the planet from gross space bugs by use of excessive force! (Did you see what I did there?)
Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair (PS4)
This game is an upgraded version of Earth Defense Force 2025. With 50% more content, 2 player co-op (4 online) and a giant robot fighting a glowing turkey-dragon, players will get to lead their NPC army into city spanning battles against the scariest versions of the insect invaders to date.
Corpse Party: Blood Drive (PS Vita)
Blood Drive was originally released in Japan back in 2014. This sequel lets the player explore Heavenly Host Elementary in full 3D for the first time ever. The exploration system has been completely overhauled. An in-game flashlight and dark, spooky halls only add to the atmosphere of evil spirit banishing talismans and all the terrible circumstances that could befall a place called “Heavenly Host Elementary”.
Return to PopoloCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale (Nintendo 3DS)
This farming simulator is actually a crossover of Harvest Moon and Popolocrois Monogatari. This 25+ hour story of friendship and family is peppered with 100-some quests and turn based monster combat.
Senran Kagura Estival Versus (PS4, PS Vita)
The buxom ladies of Senran Kagura are in it again as they find themselves transported to an island paradise. Or, what seems to be. Here they find they must cope with separating from already departed loved ones yet again. Estival Versus sports the biggest roster of characters in the Senran Kagura series yet. It also has bigger moves, more customization options and up to 10 player online matches (on PS4, up to 4 on the Vita).
Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel (PS3, PS Vita)
Trails of Cold Steel is not only a part of the Trails in the Sky series, it is actually a two part series itself. It will take place in the same continent, but follow along with military students of the Erebonian empire. In a time of great turmoil, the player with fight monsters, go to class and build bonds with classmates to unlock combat abilities.
Onechanbara Z2: Chaos (PS4)
The infamous “Bikini Zombie Slayer” series gets back to it in this latest installment. Putting the fates of two sets of sisters in the player’s hands, four different swordplay styles are unlocked for maximum zombie slaughtering. A brand new story, tag team attacks, super modes and plenty of customization options await. Zombie slaying never looked so good.
Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson (Nintendo 3DS)
Deep Crimson picks up right where the first game, Senran Kagura: Burst, left off. Following the Hanzo and Hebijo ninja academies, play as a whole cast of characters as a common enemy forces the schools to set aside their differences and band together for the greater good.
