Yacht Club Games has just announced a veritable buffet of new information on Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove as well as the series as a whole. In a brief presentation, the company announced new info for the final main game expansion Shovel Knight: King of Cards, which will be two games in one, as well as many new features for the main game. They also showed off the upcoming Shovel Knight Showdown, and even announced a new game titled Shovel Knight Dig.
The most important thing to note is that King of Cards, as well as Showdown, will both be releasing in December 2019. Treasure Trove will be receiving a handful of content additions in its final expansion, including new costumes and fairy secrets for each campaign through Amiibo support, new cheat codes, and additional challenge levels. The second order of business is, of course, the announcement of Shovel Knight Dig. The game will be a collaboration between Yacht Club Games and Nitrome, the developer of many flash games as well as Bomb Chicken. The game is a prequel to the original Shovel of Hope, and sees our titular hero digging deep underground in a somewhat randomly generated adventure to defeat the evil Drill Knight and Spore Knight. Not many details have been revealed regarding the game, though we can see from the trailer that it will be a similar but different take on the platformer classic, and will feature a 16-bit aesthetic as opposed to the 8-bit aesthetic of the rest of the series.
While Dig does not yet have a release date, but the completed Treasure Trove will be available in both physical and digital form for Nintendo Switch,
