Alaska Senate candidate Mary Peltola accused Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan of growing wealthier while residents struggle with rising costs. She claimed his personal wealth tripled to $8 million during his tenure, citing stock trades and corporate ties. Her accusations drew backlash on X, where critics questioned her credibility and challenged her claims.
In the video, Peltola described Alaskans as “living hand to mouth” while contrasting their finances with the senator’s. She called Sullivan one of the Senate’s most prolific stock traders and accused him of giving “tremendous breaks to RPM.” She also claimed tariffs benefited RPM and helped enrich him.
Beyond those allegations, she accused Sullivan of secretly trying to sell stock in a farmed-salmon company without Alaskans knowing. She argued residents now pay twice or three times what they paid when he entered office 12 years ago. “We don’t have many millionaires in Alaska, but Dan Sullivan’s doing all right for himself,” she said.
Mary Peltola Faces Backlash Over Dan Sullivan Wealth Claims
The criticism extended beyond Sullivan’s finances, with several responses questioning Peltola’s campaign tactics and conduct in Alaska’s Senate race.
One response challenged her criticism of Sullivan’s wealth, asking, “Doubled his personal wealth? You say that like it is a bad thing. Does that mean he actually knows how to manage money?”
Another questioned her approach to the race, writing, “Why can’t you guys just run on your agenda and stop trying to tear down your opponents”
The discussion also turned to allegations involving another candidate named Dan Sullivan. One critic asked, “Which Dan Sullivan? The senator or the fake Dan Sullivan you recruited to steal the election?”
A separate response went further, demanding punishment. “You seriously crossed the line into criminal conduct. You should be in jail, not the Senate.”
The comments do not establish whether Peltola’s campaign recruited the other candidate. Her allegations concerning Sullivan’s finances also remain unverified.
