A Florida woman shared a very uncomfortable and disheartening experience she had, in which she challenges people who “think homophobia is not real.” The video she posted depicts her being followed for several blocks by a man shouting anti-LGBTQIA+ remarks at her.
The Florida woman, TikTok user Courtney33nelson (Courtney), posted the harassment on TikTok. She had been minding her own business prior when she was suddenly shouted at by a man nearby. Among his anti-LGBTQIA+ gibberish, he was really hung up on Courtney’s gender, mistaking her for transgender. She identifies as a “masculine lesbian” and a woman.
“You’ll never be a man,” the weirdo says. Courtney responds, laughing, “I don’t want to be a man.” The man then tells her that he wants her to come and fight him, but she refuses. He yells at her, “I’ll knock your [expletive] out! I’ll lay your [expletive] down on the concrete!”
Court is fed up but she keeps walking until she gets to her vehicle. He follows her the entire way, calling after her with horrible names. At one point, she’s in her vehicle and has the window rolled up and you can still hear him screaming at her through the window.
He yells, “You’ll never be a man; it doesn’t matter how much testosterone you take, you are a female!” He calls her a “loser” as she smiles at her audience, shocked by how far he’s taking things. Finally, she’s able to drive away and ditch this guy in her dust.
Viewers make fun of the Florida man online
Naturally, women all over TikTok came to the comments to share their love and support for Courtney. One viewer took a swing at the guy’s pride. “He’s jealous cause he knows you can steal his woman.” Another pegged him as someone who would get angry by a woman able to “pull more women than him.”
Many viewers laughed at the man’s feeble attempt to show how ‘masculine’ he was when he threatened to throw down. “Pathetic display of male insecurity. You are amazing. ❤️”
Others were bothered by the man’s sudden hostility; Courtney had said nothing to him. “This scares the [expletive] out of me,” a TikTok user admitted. If he’s willing to do this to a stranger, maybe he’s done it before!
This video really highlights how much transphobia can lead to hatred towards all types of women. It’s no one’s business how you choose to present yourself and who you choose to love.
