This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

It’s time Proxies, Zenless Zone Zero 1.4 is upon us, and I must admit: it looks like the best version this game has had so far. After a special program full of surprises, we learned more about the two remaining Section 6 members, the upcoming main story mission, and other goodies that every gamer will enjoy. So, if you’ve been away from New Eridu for a while, I can’t stress enough that this is the best time to return, grab good old Euos, and dive into the Hollows once more.

Let’s start with the most important part of this story, which is the release date of Zenless Zone Zero 1.4. This major update will arrive on December 18, 2024. It will include important changes to the game, including a redesign of the main story stages, the anticipated upgrade for PS5 Pro, and the debut of the two remaining Agents from Section 6. However, there are more things coming that we’ll break down below.

New Story & New Zone

For our lore fanatics and those wanting to see what Wise and Belle’s story is all about, you’ll finally get some answers. Starting in version 1.4, Zenless Zone Zero will debut a new main story stage and a new zone called Port Elpis. It seems that the mysteries we’ve seen since the game’s launch are finally ready to be uncovered, or so we hope. Plus, the trailer showed a lot of the factions coming together for one big fight, so we can safely say this will be one of the greatest chapters in the game.

A Revamped Main Story Experience

Many users gave feedback to the developers about the TV mode and how it used to affect the main story’s pacing. While previous chapters have fixed this by adding more combat scenarios, it seems 1.4 will introduce a more permanent and hands-on solution. According to the announcement, Proxies will now be able to experience the story as Eous as it explores the Hollows and then switch to the normal combat stages we’re used to. However, if you prefer the previous exploration mechanics, they’ll also be available.

The Full Force of Section 6

For those itching to spend their hard-earned Polychrome, Zenless Zone Zero 1.4 will bring Hoshimi Miyabi and Asaba Harumasa from one of the game’s last factions. The former is an S-Rank Anomaly Agent who wields the Ice element. The latter is an S-Rank Attack Agent who wields the power of Electro. Harumasa will also be free for everybody who’s reached Inter-Knot level 8. Also, he’ll be available until version 1.6 goes live.

A Plethora of Gameplay Additions

Last but not least, Proxies can expect all sorts of permanent and limited-time events in the game. Hollow Zero: Shadows Lost will bring a new season full of new things to obtain. Dead Assault will be a new periodic operation with enemies that will change with each season. Also, it seems there’s a new event coming with Bangboos fighting against Ethereals in what seems to be a tower defense-like mode. Also, there are some QoL changes coming, such as Decibels now being individual instead of shared by all members of a team, which is great.

Beyond that, you can expect new Agent stories, an option to invite characters to hang out in the city, and many more things that will fill up your pocket with that sweet currency we all crave.

So, save the date for December 18, and start preparing your Agents for one of the game’s biggest confrontations so far. Also, if you haven’t, remember to finish all story stages and special episodes ahead of the 1.4 update. You’ll want to catch up before experiencing the new dangers and mysteries that await us in New Eridu.
