Jamie Lynn Spears and the cast of the early 2000’s sitcom Zoey 101 have announced the development of a revival movie coming soon to Paramount+ starring much of the original cast from the original series. Spears will be reprising her role alongside Erin Sanders, Sean Flynn, Matthew Underwood, and others, as well as doubling as an executive producer for the film, which will premiere on Paramount+.
Premiering on Nickelodeon in 2005, Zoey 101 follows Jamie Lynn Spears as Zoey Brooks, one of the first female students to enroll in Pacific Coast Academy, a prestigious Southern California boarding school that previously only admitted boys. Throughout the show’s four seasons, Zoey befriends fellow academy students Chase Matthews (Sean Flynn), Logan Reese (Matthew Underwood), Nicole Bristow (Alexa Nikolas), and Quinn Pensky (Erin Sanders), and the group steadily grows closer – in both romantic and platonic ways – as they navigate life as teenagers in a boarding school. Zoey 101 concluded in 2008 after a three-year run for the show.
Spears, Flynn, Underwood, and Sanders will all be returning to reprise their roles for the Zoey 101 revival movie, along with Christopher Massey as Michael Barret, Abby Wilde as Stacey Dillsen, and Jack Salvatore as Mark Del Figgalo.
Jamie Lynn Spears to Executive Produce ‘Zoey 101’ Film for Paramount+
Along with reprising her role as a grown-up Zoey Brooks, Jamie Lynn Spears will also be acting as an executive producer for the Paramount+ film. Per Deadline, the revival movie will feature the series cast, now adults, reuniting for a wedding in the present day, fifteen years after the events of Zoey 101.
In a statement regarding the original cast reuniting for the film, Spears told Variety the following:
“I’m beyond thrilled to be back alongside my PCA family and continue the story of Zoey and all the characters fans know and love. As an executive producer, it’s been an exciting opportunity to work with such incredible talent as well as Paramount+ and Nickelodeon.”
Production of the Zoey 101 film, reportedly called Zoey 102 under a working title, has begun in North Carolina, with a premiere supposed to happen later this year on Paramount+, which has acquired Nickelodeon in the years since the series ended. Alexis Fischer, Nancy Hower, Monica Sherer, and Madeline Whitby will join Spears as producers for the film, with Hower also acting as the director. At the same time, Sherer & Whitby are responsible for the script.
