Unlike its former PES counterpart, FIFA, better known as FC right now, has always been about individual player skill moves and stylistic soccer. Dribbling in FC 25 is one key to securing victory or smashing your controller for the perfect interceptions of your every pass against other players in the Ultimate Team. So if you want that satisfying win moment so much on the pitch, maybe you should master these dribbling tricks and skill moves in FC 25.
Notice! There’s a “Star” determination after each one of these skill moves you see below, indicating that your player must be on that level of skill to pull off the dribbling technique.
10. Ball Roll (2 Star)
- Press and hold the right analog stick up/down.
We’ve had this move in the previous FC/FIFA games as well, and it’s still one of the best in the business. The opponent’s defender is rushing towards you? Just hold the right stick to the side of your player’s direction and they’ll roll the ball to the side, dodging the defender in the process. Like every other dribbling trick and skill move in FC 25, this one also needs the perfect timing and mastery for a high succession rate.
9. Half Elastico (5 Star)
- Press and hold the L1/LB button while rotating the right stick analog from 6 to 12 or 12 to 6.
Elastico is one of the most used FIFA dribbling techniques in the game, allowing players to move to the side by rotating the right analog stick two quarters clockwise. However, a new dribbling skill move has been added to the game which is a kind of easier Elastico. This trick is best performed against defenders and not the goalkeeper.
8. Start and Cancel (2 Star)
- Press and hold the L2 button and flick the right analog stick forward and then backwards.
This move works best if you’re trying to squeeze through your wing attacker to reach the goal from the top or the bottom of the pitch. So the idea is that the defender is chasing you, and by holding the L2 button and flicking your right analog stick to back and then forward, you’ll make a start and stop animation that might give you the chance of tricking the opponent to think that you’re about to drive the ball inside.
7. Strafe Dribbling (All Players)
- Hold L2 + R1 and turn with the left analog stick.
Skill moves are the bread and butter of pro players in FC 25, but there are some situations in which you only need to maintain position or just move around smoothly until you find the angle. For that, you can do it with simple L1 dribble, or you can combine L2 and R1 to trick the opponent’s defender. While the L1 strafing can be easily cut with a simple press of a Square/X button while in Jockey, this new method makes it harder for them to intercept.
6. Flair Nutmeg (4 Star)
- Hold L1 + R1 and then flick the right analog stick in any direction.
Want to change direction in the box? The Flair Nutmeg is one of the best skill moves in FC 25 and most previous FIFA games for intriguing the defenders to execute an unsuccessful tackle.
5. New Fake Shot Ball Roll Cancel (Trickster Playstyle)
- Press Square/X and then X/A to cancel your shot, then quickly move your left analog stick to the direction you want to go.
Roll Ball is great. It is an awesome technique that you can pull off by only holding the right stick button to up/down. However, if you have a player on the pitch that has the Trickster skill, you can do an amplified version of this move by performing a fake shot and then changing directions with the left analog stick. Easy, efficient, works on the goalkeepers as well.
4. Three Touch Turn (4 Star)
- Hold L2 and flick the right analog stick to your player’s back and then up/down.
This dribbling skill move is one of the best, but it requires perfect timing and mastery in FC 25. The best area to perform this move is in the box with opponents in full Jockey stance. Try this move in an open area, and the defenders can easily tackle and snag the ball away.
3. Feint (2 Star)
- Hold the L2 button and flick the right analog stick up/down.
If you’re playing against an opponent who knows almost every move you make and has mastered defending you, then when is a better time to give him a big puzzle to work on? Do feints against them from time to time, and you’ll break their line of focus on defending your best dribbles in FC 25.
2. Drag Back (2 Star)
- Hold L1 + R1 and flick the left analog stick to the back.
Mostly efficient while attacking the wing sides, the Drag Back is useful for a quick turn and change of the attack pattern. Maybe if you chain this with other skill moves, you can stop, go back, and then return and continue your wing attack.
1. Heel Flick (3 Star)
- Flick the right analog stick forward and then backwards.
Just like the start-and-stop dribble, this move is very useful against those defenders that chase you on the wing sides. A quick stop-and-run dribbling action sequence might be enough for your attacker to get fully open and run away from the defenders in FC 25.
Now keep in mind that while some of these moves are harder to learn, definitely all of them require mastery. Give it some time and plant these moves in your muscle memory in the Practice Arena, and once you’re confident in your dribbling, test them out against the AI first in FC 25.
You should also note that performing these moves with different players might feel slower/quicker. Like if you’re strafe dribbling with Mbappé or Griezmann, it’d be much smoother than most other players.
