2025 will mark the first time we’ll be receiving two Black Ops games in a row, and that means more Treyarch Zombies. However, this isn’t just any Black Ops sequel, as the Zombies mode in Call of Duty 2025 is heavily rumored to feature the return of the original crew. Now, there is more insider info about six Round-Based maps coming, one of which is set in space! The Moon 2.0, baby!
When it comes to Call of Duty news, insider info is all rumors. We knew Cold War and Vanguard were coming a year before release, and every season the guns, perks, and most of the new items coming to the games are accurately leaked. And now according to the leaks, Call of Duty 2025 is going to be one big show for the Zombies fans to enjoy.
There are various Call of Duty leakers on X and social media like TheGhostofHope, but this time, the news comes from none other than Tom Henderson. He has been a reliable source for many years now and according to him, Call of Duty 2025 will have 6 Zombies maps in its lifecycle with various game modes like Grief and Outbreak.
Call of Duty 2025 Is One Golden Opportunity For Zombies’ Big Return

Up until now, we know that Call of Duty 2025 is a Black Ops 2 sequel that’s set in the 2030s, based on leaks of course. But, apparently, the Zombies mode in this title will not be held back by the Campaign story integration. It’s assumed that this year’s Zombies experience will be more “out there” with its maps, which is music to any OG fans’ ears.
Leaked Call of Duty 2025 Zombies Maps And Modes Are Out of This World

According to Insider Gaming’s info, there are a total of 6 Round-Based Zombies maps coming for Call of Duty 2025:
- Fictional post-WWII timeline where Nazis have dropped a nuke on New York.
- A Space Station set in the Dark Aether.
- Japanese temple near an erupting volcano.
- Afghanistan. No further info is available now.
- Vietnam. No further details are given at this time.
- One of the biggest Zombies maps with a Tranzit-like transportation system.
If you’re getting goosebumps while reading these, imagine how amazing it’d be to actually play on some of these maps. The ideas are just fantastic, and the only reason for that, in my opinion, is that the Zombies story will probably break free out of the unified Campaign story we follow every year.
It’s been also leaked that Call of Duty 2025 Zombies will feature different game modes like Grief and Outbreak. Zombies heaven I’d say. Grief is the game mode from Black Ops 2 that has two teams of 4 players playing a Round-Based map until one of them dies and the other wins. Or that’s how we used to play it competitively back in the day.
On the other hand, the news about Outbreak could be related to the ditched Avalon Warzone map. Rumor suggests that Avalon is currently put aside for Zombies instead of Warzone, which could end up being the Outbreak map for Call of Duty 2025. I can’t say if it’s awesome news because we’ll be losing a Warzone map for that, and the map was originally designed for Battle Royale, not Zombies. We’ll have to wait and see.
The Original Crew Are Returning

The importance of original characters for a good Call of Duty Zombies experience is meaningful. After all, we’re not there to kill some zombies in a soulless box, there should be a story behind things. This year with Black Ops 6, we have the return of this feature with the set crew of Maya, Carver, Gray, and Weaver, and it’s a blessing. However, what if we knew that the OG Zombies crew were coming back?
According to the same source, Call of Duty 2025 Zombies could see the return of Tank Dempsey, Nikolai Belinski, Takeo Masaki, and Edward Richtofen. Not the current Richtofen, the old one. The story revolves around a new villain trying to revive the old multiverse and retrieve the souls of the original characters. Treyarch, if it’s all true, keep cooking!
Gameplay Changes, Please?

Besides all the leaks and rumors about Call of Duty 2025 Zombies, there’s a side note I’d like to add. There is no official or leaked info on this, but it’d be nice to see the return of the barebones Round-Based Zombies system without loadouts. You know, starting with a pistol and grinding through with point strategies for each map.
Some of the modern Zombies gameplay features, like the implementation of Warzone’s armor system, make the game feel more like we’re playing Battle Royale with the undead involved. So if there were any tweaks to Zombies, like how it used to be in its golden age of Black Ops 3, it’d be super appreciated by diehard fans like me.
