The right weapon can serve you from your first day in Mournstead until your last. No matter how many fights you go through, its blade will still be just as keen. Not every item is designed to last in Soulslikes, however. Lords of the Fallen includes a wide array of consumables, and the best of them can completely change how you play this challenging game. From healing and fast traveling to farming items more efficiently, these single-use items can do a lot for you. You’ll either need to buy them or find them throughout Mournstead, which means you’ll need to think carefully about when to use them. Here are the best consumables in Lords of the Fallen, ranked from good to game-changing.
5. Lucky Paw
The Lucky Paw is an unusual consumable but still one of the best in Lords of the Fallen. It doesn’t replenish your magic, heal you, or make you stronger. In fact, this consumable doesn’t affect combat at all. Instead, its power comes into play when your enemy dies. The Lucky Paw increases your item discovery rate. That’s useful if you’re trying to farm Vigor since you can immediately turn around and resell whatever you get. It’s even better if you’re trying to get a specific rare drop from a mob that stubbornly refuses to give it up. Bring a pile of these on your hunt, and you’ll have the item you’ve been looking for in no time.
4. Ammunition Satchel
The Ammunition Satchel is what it sounds like: a bag containing ammo for your various ranged weapons. One thing that separates Lords of the Fallen from many Soulslikes is that ranged weapons are viable, and the best consumables are a big part of why. Bows, javelins, and throwing hammers allow you to deal a high amount of damage from a safe distance, but only until your limited ammo stock runs out. The Ammunition Satchel replenishes this stock. It’s indispensable for ranged builds, but even players who only dabble in ranged combat will appreciate its value. Bring one of two of these into a difficult boss fight, and your odds of success immediately improve.
3. Large Manastone Cluster
The Large Manastone Cluster is the spellcasting equivalent to the Ammunition Satchel. It gradually restores a large amount of mana, allowing spellcasters to keep casting past their usual limits. Though it’s not as convenient as it would be if it restored your mana instantly, the Large Manastone Cluster is still one of the best consumables in Lords of the Fallen. As potent as ranged weapons are, they lack the versatility of magic, which gives this consumable the edge over the Ammunition Satchel. If you chose one of the game’s spellcasters as your starting class, there’s arguably nothing better you can have on hand than a Large Manastone Cluster.
2. Briostone Trio
The Briostone Trio is a fantastic healing item. Though it only restores your lost health a little at a time, it can repair even grave injuries as long as you’re patient. It doesn’t provide the same instantaneous relief as the Sanguinarix, but you can use the Briostone Trio even after your primary healing item has run dry. There will be many moments throughout your run in Lords of the Fallen when you need just a little more time to clinch a challenging boss fight, and that’s exactly what this consumable gives you. You won’t be flooded with them the way you will the lesser versions, so use them sparingly.
1. Vestige Seed
The Vestige Seed is the backbone of the fast travel system in Lords of the Fallen, so there’s no question why it’s one of the best consumables. Vestiges may be reliable fast travel locations, but the distances between them are often long. Nothing stings quite as much as having a long and potentially dangerous run back to a difficult boss after losing to it. Vestige Seeds allow you to circumvent that problem by creating your own temporary Vestiges. That means you can heal, level up, and fast travel to the locations of your choice. You can only have one planted at a time, so you must carefully manage your Vestige Seed’s location. Despite that downside, the Vestige Seed is irreplaceable.
Lords of the Fallen is available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
