Tokyo Debunker thrusts you into a dark fantasy world filled with ghouls, action, adventure, and curses. There’s no one set genre here. Instead, everyone can find something to enjoy such as the webtoon elements and the AFK-style method of earning resources. But despite the charming tutorial, it’s easy to hit a few walls when you first start. For beginners left confused, I’ve got a few starter tips to make navigating Tokyo Debunker a far more seamless experience.

Beef Up the Campus ASAP

Beyond reading along the story, building up the Campus is one of your priorities. Tokyo Debunker beginners will want to build as much as possible. It’s where the AFK elements come into play, and this is how you will score plenty of materials even without playing. But we don’t just want to add buildings. We also want to upgrade what we already own. If you don’t know which to upgrade first, choose their suggestions.

An additional tip for Tokyo Debunker beginners is that you want to ensure the best person is in each location. You can let it auto-pick the best one for the job by selecting “Optimize.”

Finish Cases For Character Interactions

Even beginners of this supernatural adventure know how vital cases are. There are certain parts where the story will lock you out until you complete the indicated case level. However, they don’t explain how cases lock you out of other elements. You must complete a certain amount before you can raise affinity with characters. And without affinity, you can’t enjoy the texting side of the storyline. These texts offer extra character interactions, beefing up the overall story.

So, a tip for all Tokyo Debunker beginners is that you want to focus heavily on the cases. Do so until the Camp function is accessible from the Campus screen. When you go to Camp, you can select three characters to take on a bus trip where you will earn and raise affinity with said characters. Simply reaching level 2 in affinity should grant you access to the text messages with those specific boys.

Don’t Ignore the Gacha Feature

The best way for beginners to start strong in Tokyo Debunker is to focus on pulling the best characters whenever possible. It’s randomized, of course, but you don’t want to neglect this feature. The more you advance in the story, the harder those cases will become. So, you want to try your hand at earning top-ranked characters. Additionally, this plays into how effective Campus is for your AFK gains. Once you finish a certain amount of cases, you can assign multiple boys to one building.

And besides, who wouldn’t want to hoard a collection of pretty ghoul boys? As an extra tip for Tokyo Debunker beginners, remember to rotate who you take out for Camp when you add more characters. It’s easy to fill the roster, but you don’t want to let anyone fall by the wayside.

Remember To Upgrade Gear

Another beginners tip deals with something far too easy to forget about in Tokyo Debunkers. If you’re not used to handling combat situations, no matter how light they are, you might not pay too much attention to upgrading your boys. But they need to perform their best.

Don’t just level the characters up as that’s only half the battle. You want to improve their gear as that will help set them up for success even more.

Don’t Stress About Combat Too Much

As I mentioned, the cases will get tougher as time goes on. However, as long as your characters are adjusted, then you don’t need to stress about them. A solid tip for Tokyo Debunker beginners is to sit back and enjoy. You can skip each case if battles aren’t your thing. If your characters are strong, they’ll make it. This lets you soar through the cases in a flash so you can get back to reading the story.

The cat in the bonus rounds is the real struggle. It’s so easy to miss the tapping indicator. But I know a workaround. Don’t stop tapping the screen. It’s not 100% foolproof, but I scored more hits than misses with that method.

But that’s all there is to it for Tokyo Debunker beginners. It’s more story-focused, so your most stressful time is waiting to access additional content. Just don’t get your hopes up on gaining a ghoul boyfriend though as there’s no dating involved. This isn’t a full otome experience, but you can still appreciate the characters for who they are.

Tokyo Debunker is available for iOS and Android.
